What happened during the troubled Big Sur launch, and why Apple can't let it happen again
Mike Wuerthele said:mSak said:This is a very long-winded article that can be re-written with these points:- There was a botch that happened with the launch of macOS 11 Big Sur which itself is not greatly problematic.- The big problem is that this affected other Mac users who, though were not downloading Big Sur, had trouble with opening some existing applications already on their computerThat's it! That's what the article really is or should be about!
This piece is a discussion about it, and those tend to be a bit lengthier. The article is clearly labeled as an editorial, as posted from the screen cap above.

Do feel free to discuss your opinion about the topic at hand. How William chose to structure the Editorial with opinions is up to him, and isn't a topic for debate. If you'd like to discuss his opinions that's fine. -
What MagSafe on the iPhone 12 is, how it works, and what can it do
randominternetperson said:I'll be very interested to learn how Apple has engineered this magnetic wallet so that it doesn't screw up the mag strip on credit cards. It seems like an incredibly obvious question. Surely that Apple Pay card they show in the photo hasn't been ruined by the strong iPhone magnet.“The leather wallet is shielded so it’s safe for credit cards.”
This is the last line of the product description for the leather wallet in the Apple Store app. -
Testing out Apple liquid silicone Solo Loop and yarn Braided Solo Loop
1. Kinda tricky to print out if you don't have a printer at home. I print exceedingly rarely, but you can put the guide on a USB stick and stop by your local print shop/office supply store to print it out. It looks nicer that way anyway (unless you have a laser printer at home).
It’s not as fancy as a printed sizing guide, but just as effective... -
Compared: Apple's 2020 iPad Air versus 2020 11-inch iPad Pro
When comparing the $200 difference between the two base models, I think the difference in base storage is quite significant. If 64GB is not enough for you, your only option with the Air4 is to spend $150 more which mostly wipes out the cost difference. To me, the difference in storage is at least as significant as other differentiators that seem to get more attention (camera difference, LiDAR, nits...) YMMV -
