  • Tiled window management comes to macOS Sequoia, but it's hidden

I don't know why the lost their nerve with Split View. They should have kept iterating, giving us multiple vertical and horizontal splits, the ability to drag apps in via the Dock or LaunchPad, to swap apps via drag and drop, the "..." top bar options from iPadOS, Slideover, floating Utility apps invoked from corners, etc... would have been so much more compelling than yet another half baked attempt at keeping the aging Desktop metaphor relevant.

  • iPad finally has a Calculator app - Here's everything it can do

Can anyone with the beta confirm that this supports slideover? Would be pretty lame if we had to run it as a fullscreen app. I was hoping they'd make this a "utility" app invoked from a corner, like Quick Notes

  • Maryland Apple Store staff vote in favor of strike action

However, retail staff have questioned that description of the relationship between Apple and its workers. One staff member summarized the working conditions by saying that complaining to Apple is "like writing a letter to Santa."

Funny.. that is exactly what it’s like as a customer, sending Apple feedback or attempting bug reports.

I love the products but there is a toxic attitude here that needs to be challenged, and it obviously affects more than just customers. It’s ashame this is just one store, which will make it fairly easy for Apple to ignore.

but the small screen makes other types of work a real chore, especially in iPadOS where multitasking is STILL a kludge.
Sorry, you’re just wrong. People with this opinion have simply not given iPad multitasking a chance. It is vastly superior to macOS. It should not work like a traditional desktop, which would be a step down.

The issues with “real work” on iPads have more to do with “dumbed down” apps offering less than desktop functionality, and some issues with the way the OS handles (or randomly drops) background tasks. Some aspects of input in the touch interface can be trickier, slower and less precise than on a Mac, even with a keyboard and mouse. But that’s about it.

  • No iPad Air or iPad Pro announcement on March 26, says Gurman

Apple knows the best Mac they are working on now is the M3 iPad Pro.

Imagine a device that thin, with mac os, USB C, 5G, touchscreen, native apple pencil support.
lol, you macOS-on-iPad guys crack me up. Reminds me of the whole "xMac" fantasy that lived on in comment threads for like a decade and a half (this was supposed to be some kind of modular, hobbyist tower Mac in the Intel era).

    Not. Ever. Gonna. Happen.
