iPhone survives fall from Alaska Airlines midair blowout
dominikhoffmann said:My guess is that because of the small size and the flatness the iPhone dropped more like a leaf than a rock. Tree or brush branches may have decelerated the fall enough to keep it undamaged. My real question is: how was this found, when it was in airplane mode and would not have responded to Find My searches? -
iPhone 15 Pro models could cost at least $100 more
These iPhones are now very powerful computers that reside in our pockets. I am a power user (whatever that means) and have several Macs, however, I honesty rarely pick up a computer these days and conduct my entire life on my phone. I sign documents , do all my communications, review video (I’m in film), annotate files, and on. In fact, a few years back I sold a building in LA and did every aspect of the sale with my phone. Never needed my Mac. You get the idea. $1000 (or a little more even) for that multidimensional device is amazing. Same price as an entry level Air and does the same as well as all the other phone capabilities in our pocket. Let’s put it in perspective when we are about to complain about price. And yes, I’m typing this on my iPhone. An amazing tool for a grand-ish. -
Young filmmaker given 'Dream Studio Makeover' by Apple
I made a documentary on the Beatles that premiered at the Toronto film festival on a 2017 MacBook Pro. The film is in the process of being sold to a major streaming service so his 2018 MacBook Pro is more than capable of making films. Grab an external hard drive for 100 bucks and you have a film studio, maybe buy Final Cut Pro or use iMovie for free. Viola’. I’m not discounting Apple‘s Noble gesture but to suggest he was struggling with a 2018 MacBook Pro is dishonest. -Tony Guma -
