  • Facebook whistleblower says Congress needs to act to stop a growing crisis

My kids are 13 and 15. They do not use Facebook. They laugh at it. Even instagram. It’s Snapchat and f’in tik tok, I think. Regardless, Facebook isn’t even slightly relevant for kids. Trust me, I’m a teacher. Childish adults? Yes. Kids, no.

  • Apple highlights Ceramic Shield screen in new iPhone 12 ad

I had Apple's silicone case on it. Frame still dented in two spots. And it's still expensive for Apple Care plus ($200ish) and still another $200, I believe, to get a new phone. This iPhone is no tougher than any other, in my experience. Only an idiot would go without a case in such and expensive device.

Had my iPhone 12 Pro Max one week -- slipped out of my pocket getting out of my car, fell to the ground (similar to the commercial but at a much lower height) about 18 inches broke the side of the screen and chipped the frame in two spots. That's a real life example, that ad is disingenuous. An Apple Genius (had to go twice to find a sympathetic one) graciously fixed the screen for free after I told him honestly what happened and showed him the text on the Apple page about being stronger than previous phones. However my frame is still chipped into spots and as an Apple fanatic (OCD) obviously that drives me nuts, looking at that every day. Previous iPhones have taken similar spills in the past resulting in no damage. Be it what it may, your mileage will vary. so watching that commercial kind of punches me in the gut. Falls are very unpredictable. I was so mad at myself but a little disappointed in the durability the phone that cost me $1400, needless to say. Now after that commercial, I feel worse.
And yet if you had gotten AppleCare+ you could've requested an express replacement by mail and gotten a refurb with no scratches on it. It's a calculated risk to leave the house with a naked iPhone.

  • Job application sheet signed by Steve Jobs sells at auction for $222,394

The lesson here is, as an employer, do not rule anybody out. Even if they have lousy handwriting, no phone, no transportation and little experience. Period. You may be interviewing the next Steve Jobs!

    Misogyny aside
Stuff like this is infuriating. Absolutely no references to her sex were made at all and nothing was said against her that hasn't been said against males tho take anti-Apple stances. As if Tim Sweeney of Epic Games or Google's Eric Schmidt gets positive treatment in these parts just because they are men or something.
Listen, he is using it like "Please man (or dude or pal, these have male inferences) stay away from......." This type of, to be polite, "sensitivity" is our real problem in society now, you can't even reference a person using proper gender specific pronouns. Relax. Everyone.  She's annoying and some of us are annoyed that government is going after tech. We all have our opinions and many of us are frustrated or worried. I own a lot of AAPL.  We can be frustrated or angry at someone or something without gender (if that exists anymore) being used to derail the facts of what was said. I have never been offended by someone saying to me "Please man, be real".
