'Apple Music for Artists' dashboard beta launches as music streaming analytics tool for mu...

The industry these days is hellish if your aspiring to have it be your day job.Merely making music has never been enough, you also have to be an entertainer and a marketing (marketing yourself as yes. a product). That has been the case for the last 100 years, these days this has only been amplified. For most right now, it cannot be, more a very expensive side project. The mid market that used to exist until the early 2000s has completely gone away. For smaller bands and artists, you do shows are you don't make any money.I'd gather that only about 1000 artists and bands are make 90% of the industries' money. These days artist barely make money from selling / streaming their music, those numbers would be more useful as tools for the shows they actually have to do continuously to make any money.
Well said! Given the emotional connect I have with music, I find it sad that a majority of the artists have to struggle this way.

Jony Ive returns to hands-on control of Apple design team

Oh yes, let's have marketeers and engineers in charge. We all know how great iTunes is. Not.
We need Ive, or some kind of hybrid interaction designer, someone who feels at ease challenging both the software and hardware engineers in a constructive dialogue.
There's an animated discussion going on about the difference between UX, UI, and IxD (Interaction Design). Here's my take:- UI (User Interface design) is Graphic design.
- UI + User interviews = UX (User Experience design), and IxD (Interaction Design).
- IxD is more general than UX. An IxD ought to be able to communicate the designs with the software engineers, which implies a basic knowledge of, or some kind of familiarity with, software development. There needs to be some kind of dialogue.
Having said that, UX and IxD do get used interchangeably. However, I do believe there is some kind of distinction. It is hotly debated though.

iPhone X took over two years to develop, marks new chapter in iPhone design, says Jony Ive...
At first I was horrified, but I must admit, the notch has grown on me … I really like it, it makes the iPhone distinguishable.
A silver back would make this iPhone truly irresistible. With chrome edges, it would make iPhone X very reminiscent to the original iPhone. Perhaps with iPhone X series 2?
