  • Apple cuts prices on USB-C & Thunderbolt 3 gear in response to MacBook Pro backlash

It must be true. I heard it from the mouth of an Apple Engineer

    LOL, that is hilarious!

Personally I am in favour of Apple's vision of moving away from dedicated ports on the Macbook Pro. For now, dongles make your computer futureproof and super personal: you can expand your machine into any creative direction you want at any given moment in time. You're no longer carrying around a laptop with ports that are obsolete. You'll always have the latest and greatest at a fraction of the cost. One day, we won't need dongles at all.

This is not going to fix MacBook Pro as the core product is not right. They should have kept MagSafe, DisplayPort, startup beep, and a Pro keyboard. Instead Apple tries to fix the problem of not having a vision (no... anorexia is not really a vision) by lowering pricing on accessories. The "total cost incl. dongles" and "total weight incl. dongles" still doesn't work.

The MBP 2016 is the IIvi/IIvx of our time, and it is the first time in 30 years that I have declined to get a new mac!
I agree with the MagSafe. That clearly is a big step backward. Safety is of concern as well: What if someone connects four power adapters to the Macbook pro?

Having said that. I disagree that the Macbook Pro lacks having a vision. Well, on the contrary:

    1. I love the Touch Bar. It will help me to max out the Adobe tools.
    2. The dongles are a bit of a pain, for now, but that is going to change once the industry catches up.

My wish for the 2017 Macbook Pro update is (1) to remove the 'Macbook Pro' writing from the screen, and (2) to replace the headphone jack with a MagSafe.

I guess this is good but man how did Apple get pricing wrong to being with? Outside of the original iPhone how often has Apple reduced the price on a product only a week or so after it was announced?
Those prices would be fine for an  monitor, designed by Jony Ive & his team.

The mistake Apple made, was to assume we would be happy to pay a premium for a third party product.

  • Apple announces thinner MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, Touch ID, USB-C ports starting at $179...

We knew Touch Bar was coming, but it's still cool to see.

This is Apples answer to those who think the actual screen should be a touchscreen (stupid idea, IMO - who wants to reach up to touch your screen and who wants fingerprints).

Now you have a smaller touchscreen in an area that's easy to access and fingerprints won't matter. Yet you still get all the contextual buttons/controls.
It'd be amazing on the Magic keyboard too!

  • Appealing upsell of iPhone 7 Plus predicted help Apple's average selling price exceed expectations

The extra lens makes the iPhone 7+ very appealing: It allows you to take more spontaneous pictures since you don't have to stand right in front of your subject.
