  • Target may be ready to concede and enable Apple Pay at retail

Perhaps a wee bit, but not that much.

Just another business learning to "give the customers what they want." A basic concept of capitalism. Nothing new.

  • Coach releases refreshed lineup of leather Apple Watch bands

    Well, that's fashion.

From a functional standpoint, a pair of grey sweatpants from Wall-Mart are similar to a $300 pair of designer trousers, plus the care and maintenance for the former is much lower. Hell, a $120 Seiko Diver's watch does the same thing as a $4000 Omega Seamaster.

Up to you to decide how you want to spend your money.

Some people would rather have something a little more stylish than something obviously ordinary and pedestrian. Others are happy with their cheap crap.

  • Remaining artifacts from Steve Jobs' Jackling mansion may be headed to auction

I stumbled upon the Mansion w/ the gate open as well.  I have a few more pictures of the outside.  Someone was keeping the swiming pool clean and there was a small vegitable garden. I sure hope they saved the organ.  As I remember it, they had the demolition equipment stages on the property and when they got the ok, it took about one day for full demolition. Who owns the property now?
The property is still owned by the Jobs family, probably a holding of the family trust now controlled by his widow, Laurene Powell Jobs. She is likely the person responsible for keeping the pool clean and having a small vegetable garden.

The original plans plus revised plans were submitted to the Town of Woodside but are not accessible via the web due to copyright restrictions. You must visit Woodside's city offices to view them and copies are not allowed of the renderings.

The revised plans submitted years after Jobs' death are apparently considerably different than Steve's vision. Work was to begin presumably in 2017, I don't know if construction commenced, but the original estimate was approximately two years.

  • Police contracted to guard Apple Stores in Sacramento following theft spree

The guards are stationed at that Sacramento McDonald's not to prevent theft but presumably to discourage drug deals.

A San Francisco McDonald's recently closed because of ongoing drug activity.

McDonald's is pretty much the lowest of the low, at least here in the USA. Not the case in other countries. McDonald's in Japan is a high-quality fast food operation. Their food is much better than the US stores.

  • How dual-SIM works with Apple's iPhone XS & XS Max

    Complicated as hell.Who needs this?
Why can’t you just use a secondary dumb phone for abroad?
Lots of people. Many non-Apple handsets have dual SIM capability including dumbphones.

Especially in Europe, there are quite a few who cross borders on a regular basis, some do it twice a day for work.

Plus there is the inconvenience of carrying around a second device. Let’s say you are traveling, take a photo on your fancy smartphone, then want to share the picture with loved ones. If your foreign SIM with the chesp data plan is on the dumbphone, it doesn’t facilitate matters.

Remember your usage case isn’t the only one on this planet. Not everyone does the same thing as you.
