New 4-inch iPhone to run Apple's A9 chip, 'iPad Air 3' to sport A9X - report
I would love to see how Apple is pricing this out. I am hoping
iPhone 6s Plus $749 -> $649
iPhone 6s $649 -> $549
iPhone 6 / Plus - Discontinues
iPhone 6c? $499
Now why do that? It will literally create another cycle for iPhone buyers. So now instead of a yearly buying pattern, you have added another mid cycle incentive for those who want to upgrade. Normally the latest iPhone price stays the same over the course of the year. So why not get it ASAP. That is why the 1st two quarter after iPhone release tends to the spike. While the last two quarter levels off. By lowering the price two quarters it will also make the prices minded buyer to hold. Which will smooth out the initial production rush.
Also most of Apple's competitors now stays out of the September Flagship model release and not to go head to head with Apple. They all decide to release their phone in March sometimes after MWC. Now Apple will have a weapon against them. $100 dollar discount.

Sharp, Foxconn to enter talks over $5.5B takeover bid, report says
flaneur said:ksec said:For those who dont know, Foxconn is also a major shareholder of Innolux.
Thanks for the downvote.
Maybe you're confusing it with Innovation Network Corporation of Japan, the INCJ in this story, which is the entity formed from Sony, Toshiba, et al., into Japan Display, supplier of iPhone panels. I see there is a branch in Taiwan. Is that maybe partially owned by Foxconn?
Anyway, this seems to be a big deal for Japan from a cultural point of view. Have there been other examples of non-Japanese companies buying in to such flagship technology firms?
So while Innolux can concentrate on the lower end of the market, Sharp will concentrate on premium and Phone panel, likely securing more iPhone orders. It will also means Apple has one more option to go before they have to resought to Samsung.
What Foxconn is doing is also creating an ecosystem. Their plan also mention an alliance with JDI, which should potentially mean any Foxconn customers gets to both JDI and Sharp Display Panel a lot easier.
And since Foxconn doesn't sell its own TV set, it is now the most likely player to get Apple an true Apple TV set instead of the current STB.
I am not aware of any large Japanese companies local asset being sold to foreign firms. Most of the deals were to do with overseas asset in EU and US.
This is a big risk for Foxconn, I am hoping Apple has its place in this deal.

Sharp leaning towards Japan's Innovation over Foxconn in takeover bids - report

Although the sources didn't say why Innovation has support, the latter's interest may reflect a government's desire to preserve jobs and Japanese industry.
I think Foxconn really wanted all the Sharp technology to go with Innolux.

2016 expected to be a big year for Apple's MacBook lineup, upgrades to arrive in coming months
The reason why Skylake hasn't been made available on the Mac is simply because Intel has only recently submitted their Skylake patch to LLVM few days ago. Without this, Apple could not take any of the performance advantage offered by Skylake. And a swap from Broadwell to Skylake without recompile will likely offer little to no benefits. Same goes to GPU as well, as it offer same execution units to Broadwell. ( With little additional features set )
After this submission it is likely Apple will need time to do further testing before rolling out an OSX update. This will likely take at least a month or two, inline with the rumored March / April launch.
