  • Apple releases AirTag 'Tracker Detect' app for Android

If I'm sitting in a restaurant and some jerk at the next tables disables the AirTag on my keyring, I'm gonna be really upset.

Is there going to be a way to determine whether some idiot has disabled my AirTag without pulling out the Find My app?
I'm pretty sure if your AirTag is with you and your iOS device(s), it doesn't broadcast as a rogue tag for others to be notified.

  • Apple unveils 16-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Pro, M1 Max starting at $2499

They knocked it out of the park with these laptops, anyone who tries to posit otherwise is a troll or a moron.

Personally I'll wait for the inevitable Mac Mini Pro as I'm not a mobile user beyond an iPad Pro... but I am intrigued...

It's been common practice at least in the US (at least in metro NY and NJ,) to have to show the contents of your bag prior to entering an arena or stadium, given the number of ill-minded people out there (and pass through metal detectors, at least at Madison Square Garden and Prudential Center). This is general knowledge.

Why resist it? There is no harm to you, and in fact, the collective action is making a safer environment.

This is not the US but Ireland and this is a work related issue. According to the working laws in the EU, employers have not the authority to search the personal items of employees, unless it is explicitly stated in the work regulations how and when this can happen .    This is general knowledge.

Generally speaking, only law enforcement services (police, customs, airport security, ...) have the authority to search the personal items of people.

Apple is so concerned about the privacy of people, but when its employees are involved, that concept is not that important anymore.

A - It's much more likely Apple reserved this right in their employment agreements than not.

B - This was at a stadium. I am curious if football fans can enter stadiums in the UK/Europe with bags, and without their bags or persons going through some security check?

  • New York's updated Excelsior vaccine passport drops Apple Wallet support

How are people just blindly accepting these vaccine passports? How is it that so few even question something that is so obviously absurd? The fact that they don't accommodate for natural immunity, which is *superior* to the vaccine 'immunity,' should be a clear indication that we're being manipulated. Not to mention the fact that they make no sense, since people 'vaccinated' with these gene modifying agents can still catch and spread covid. It's shocking how many people are accepting these 'passports' as somehow justifiable.
Listen to the science, science is absolute and no longer open to opposing views of the facts.
Then I hope they look at the data and do not force vaccines and masking on the 0-17 age groups. The CDC data  (hospitalizations and deaths) is very clear that the risks are extremely low. Something like three times as many died from pneumonia than Covid + Covid/pneumonia combined, cumulative, since March 2020.

As for the 0-17's being sources of transmissions, the responsibility should lie with the adults around them to ensure they are vaccinated (and masked themselves if they choose)

  • HomePod is sold out, but isn't dead yet - Apple's 'end of life' explained

The issue with the HomePod wasn't the HomePod itself (though perhaps A8 was long in tooth), but the poor performance of Siri. At $349/299, your assistant better be the bee's knees...

The HomePod sounds incredible, and a stereo pair is amazingly engaging for the size.

At $99, you may get a little more slack.

My concern is that this was part of a home invasion strategy that now seems less defined, less robust.

However, if this is the precursor of a HP2, perhaps with mesh networking capabilities, or of Apple buying Sonos (I initially discounted this rumor, but the Sonos name, and the development and product already done completed (with Airplay 2), especially for sounders and 5.1 setups), it might be worth it for Apple. I own several HomePods as well as four zones of Sonos Amps/ HT setup)

Was Beats "worth" $3bn though? There is a lot less buzz arounds Beats lately it seems...
