Two more macOS Zoom flaws surface, as lawsuit & government probe loom
Let's not forget that we're in this situation because Apple either won't make Facetime cross-platform, or get involved with a video-conferencing standard that the rest of the tech world can get behind.
Imagine for a minute what the world would be like if we all needed to have the same brand of mobile phone to talk to each other.
Why isn't secure, standards-based video-conferencing baked in at the operating system level?
People will look back at the 2020 computing era and wonder how we were so dim-witted about personal communications. -

AccountEdge abandons Catalina compatibility, customers looking for alternatives
darkpaw said:I can't believe the whole thing is 30 years old. They'll have been updating it to maintain compatibility with new version of OS X/macOS, and also to make use of various new features. It can only be a small portion of the software that they're having trouble with, and if so, what trouble are they having? Are they relying on third-party libraries that aren't compiled for 64-bit? There will likely be replacements. I don't think this was a good move on their part.
The whole thing reeks of a company that doesn't really 'get' Mac development. I forgot about MYOB, and I used to own the software.
Let them go in peace. There is no shortage of modern, 64-bit alternatives. -
Jony Ive removed from Apple's leadership page, marking the end of an era
disneylandman said:The new MacPro is an ugly mess, and overpriced at that. Same goes for the overpriced display and the ridiculous $999 stand.
No, you simply don't understand who the machine is for.
It's a machine built to generate a Halo effect for key Hollywood decision-makers who are deciding between Apple+ and other services.
The Mac Pro for the traditional Mac market won't likely come for another year. All that requires is to downgrade the innards a bit and ship a traditional monitor alongside it. You don't get why the display costs so much because you aren't in the target market. -
