  • Two more macOS Zoom flaws surface, as lawsuit & government probe loom

Let's not forget that we're in this situation because Apple either won't make Facetime cross-platform, or get involved with a video-conferencing standard that the rest of the tech world can get behind.

Imagine for a minute what the world would be like if we all needed to have the same brand of mobile phone to talk to each other.

Why isn't secure, standards-based video-conferencing baked in at the operating system level?

People will look back at the 2020 computing era and wonder how we were so dim-witted about personal communications.

  • Apple working on radical iMac redesign using single sheet of glass

I would be perfectly happy with a few tweaks to the current design, and an easy way to rotate the screen.

That feature is all that's needed for Apple to win.

  • AccountEdge abandons Catalina compatibility, customers looking for alternatives

I can't believe the whole thing is 30 years old. They'll have been updating it to maintain compatibility with new version of OS X/macOS, and also to make use of various new features. It can only be a small portion of the software that they're having trouble with, and if so, what trouble are they having? Are they relying on third-party libraries that aren't compiled for 64-bit? There will likely be replacements. I don't think this was a good move on their part.

The whole thing reeks of a company that doesn't really 'get' Mac development. I forgot about MYOB, and I used to own the software.

Let them go in peace. There is no shortage of modern, 64-bit alternatives.

  • Jony Ive removed from Apple's leadership page, marking the end of an era

The new MacPro is an ugly mess, and overpriced at that.  Same goes for the overpriced display and the ridiculous $999 stand.

No, you simply don't understand who the machine is for.

It's a machine built to generate a Halo effect for key Hollywood decision-makers who are deciding between Apple+ and other services.

The Mac Pro for the traditional Mac market won't likely come for another year. All that requires is to downgrade the innards a bit and ship a traditional monitor alongside it. You don't get why the display costs so much because you aren't in the target market.

Buy an Apple product, couple years later it quits working. No worries mate, just toss it in the bin and buy a new one. Who cares about the design if it fails so quickly?

My ten-year-old iMac wants to know what you are talking about.
