There is no "beef"here. The, aptly named, Tidal is under water and Apple does not give a shit, as they should.

Music streaming is an attention-share business for brain-dead shareholders. You are losing money on every customer, and investors reward you for every new customer. Music and "making it up in volume" are strange bedfellows.

Even more strangely, R.E.M.'s "How the West was won and where it got us" is streaming out of my Zeppelin right now :-| ?

I went wireless (for mobile use) when I got my Watch. Having a wireless remote on the wrist and the cans on a leash seemed silly. I normally use the Bowers & Wilkins P5 Wireless, but some Jaybird Bluebuds when jogging with the dogs. Both sound great – the P5s clearly better. (I tried the wireless Beats models – to me they sound terrible, but maybe they are made for other styles of music.) I just wish Apple would add aptX support to mobile devices – the sound improvement is undeniable. A possibility for custom EQ settings (maybe even separate ones for different cans) would also be a step up.

Uh, well. Using the 12.9"iPad Pro since day one, I consider the hardware almost perfect. Yeah, it could get the better display of the smaller version, but what would really make it a lot more usable is a kickstand. The Smart Keyboard is not really useful for getting the device in a good position, and the Smart Cover is just pathetic (they should call it The Wobbly or The Collapse, depending on horizontal or vertical use). So, the Surface reference does make some sense after all.

The biggest limitation of the 12.9" iPad Pro is software (or the lack of it). iOS 10 has pretty much nothing for it, and the little bit of effort third party developers were making came to a full stop once the 9.7" model was released. Heck, even Apple's own stores do not bother to scale fonts up to readable sizes after all this time. If I want to actually read a movie description in the iTS, I have to get my iPhone out since there is only fly crap on the 12.9"screen. I know, iTS is under Cue and thus hopeless, but one can wish...

The college I am lecturing for two days a week gave me a Surface 4 Pro "to see if I like it". I do not want to go into details (too painful), but here is a pretty thorough summary Steve Martin did for me...

Once they have Iovine and Ecclestone on the payroll, they just need to revive Dr. Strangelove... Then they could call their first own TV series The Goon Show.
