  • Turkey's deputy PM encourages Apple to move in wake of EU tax ruling

    AdBrit said:
In the end, all this is Apple trying to avoid paying taxes, something all of us do compliantly without begging for exception. Apple and other Corporations are simply moochers of a countries wealth whether that be the consumer's dollars or the consumer's labour. They are transient welfare bums.
Your first sentence is actually correct, although you didn't mean it to be. Corporations avoid paying taxes, like we all do, most of us avoid paying taxes we don't have to.

Yes, Apple took a big portion of Ireland's wealth /s

  • Apple to debut standalone 5K monitor, MacBook Air refresh, 'pro' iPad software features, report say

Bloomberg means Mark Gurman, who I trust a heck of a lot more than Ming-Chi.

While it's somewhat unexpected, it's not completely out of character to do an Air refresh; they did it with the white MacBooks after the aluminum unibody model had been introduced.
MacBook should replace the 11" MacBook Air. Not the MBA lineup.

The Air is a better computer than the MacBook. Larger display (I honestly wouldn't watch a film on a screen smaller than the MBA), nicer keyboard travel, SD Card and extra ports, better battery life, more performance, magnetic charger. The MacBook has a better display and is thinner/lighter. Swap out MBA ports for a few thunderbolt 3/USBc ports and give it Retina and then you're talking. MB is overpriced for what it is: base model €1,499 ($1,677) in Ireland. Should be offered in 128 GB for $999 (at most). MBA should be Retina only and begin with 128 GB for $1,299 (at most).
Wouldn't disagree, I gave my wife my 11 inch MacBook Air, got may self the first MB, fully loaded. The MB is so light, nice, quick enough for most things ( can even run Parallels in a pinch) I don't regret my decision. The MB charges so quickly too. My only critique of MB is, keyboard is NOT that great, and I cannot drive an Apple display without h any adapter if I want to charge or at least power the MB externally. Shame Applke didn't make an adapter. Traveling with MB is very good, it easily fits in most hotel safe too.

  • Apple Pay gains support from 44 new US banks and credit unions

If only these articles were "Apple added 50 retailers", then Apple Pay might be more than a blip on the radar.
    AGREED
on east coast of USA, seems there are more banks support than places I can use Apple Pay. Pity Apple can't incentivize some retailers with limited time deal.

  • CurrentC inches closer to death as Apple Pay adds over 30 banks

Hey CVS.  If you enable ApplePay, I'll start buying stuff in your stores again.
Right now Walgreen's is my CVS replacement.
Walgreens does Apple Pay properly, even the Walgreens rewards card works on a watch,.
IMO Walgreens is the right method, better than Staples and Starbucks even.

I dont much care abot more banks, just more places - and be consistant. Sometimes I can use Apple Pay at HArris Teater, sometime s not - its silly. Also Home Depot.

Wawa recently introduced it, bit you have to sign in to their app on your iPhone, its way too much work to use it in practice.
