  • Apple insists its AI training is ethical and respects publishers

As someone who runs a forum on the internet, my site had to be shut down due to AI scrapers bombarding my site with requests.

Sure, I had 50GB of pictures and over 370,000 posts made over 25 years from over 6000 users so it was perfect to learn from, but they did not have permission.

These scrapers nearly killed my site.

Needless to say, it was closed for three months while I figured out WTF to do.  CloudFlare blocked a lot, but I still have too many “guests” leaching bandwidth and content.

I want to be able to tell Apple to make my own private AI search to improve my forum for users.  I want to control the access.

I’m still figuring out how to minimize their disruption and stop content stealing.

  • How Apple's smart home revolution begins in 2025

Home automation is just electronic junk for electronics sake.

My house was built in 1936 and is as modern as any house.  Switches and grounded outlets and everything.  Some of it is original, others upgraded over the years.

Home automation junk won’t last 5 years the way Apple Supports it.  I’m not wasting my time or money on anything that isn’t portable or super simple.

You’d think I was a boomer,  but I guess I’m sick buying AirPods every 3 years because of battery death and Apple Watches for the same reason.

I still have an old Apple Express as a remote printer but I can’t talk to it anymore thanks to Apple deprecating the configuration tools.  It still works, though.  Somehow.

    /end rant.

  • Analysis: Apple not likely to enter the foldable market before 2027

I’ll never go back to a non-Max sized phone, but I don’t want something I can’t hold in one hand.

I met a furnace guy who loved his folding phone for business use and size.   I’m not that guy.

It has its applications, but I don’t say to myself “I wish my phone was a square display twice as big”.    I doubt a majority of people do.   Maybe some.

I might say that “I wish my iPad Pro 12.9 inch could fold and be smaller when I’m not using it”.   I might buy it if it existed, but those prices for non-folding iPads are already pretty steep to me.

I’ll be looking for a new phone in 2028ish.   So let’s see what Apple does in the meantime to work me up.

  • BBC cries foul over Apple Intelligence headline notification summarizations

I thought Apple’s AI was hilarious is this YT example: As for image playground, I found it dumb, boring, and utterly worthless. Deleted it.

  • Apple's in-house chip design is the 'secret weapon' behind industry-beating performance

I have to say that i iPhone profits made this custom CPU possible.   We all saw it coming with the announcement of the A7, the first mobile 64-bit CPU. (I think).

We all know it took them until the A12Z to make the Mac Mini with Apple Silicon.   I really wonder how well MacOS ran on the A7, which I'm guessing was the first of the first prototypes for Apple to try it.
