  • Apple is working on at least two folding iPhone prototypes

I had never had a scratch on my iPhone until the 12 pro max.   I use belt holsters like a boomer because I do not like having things in my pants pockets.

If the iPhone ion glass is supposed to be scratch resistant and foldies are worse then I will never buy a folding phone.

And holy crap my pro max was like $1200 so there’s the extra cost on that, too.

  • Apple Vision Pro review roundup: an experience that weighs on you

“However, he ultimately feels he wants to "get work done" in the Vision Pro," and its "isolating" experience doesn't help matters.”

People have been isolating themselves from others since the dawn of the smartphone. Everywhere you look people have their heads buried in their phones. No matter if it’s walking down the street, on the bus, train or library. People go out of their way to be less engaged with one another.
I can imagine virtual offices with one's work areas directly in front and one's online co-workers on the side, in the distance, etc, and having a smart-enough interface where if you called someone's name out, they'd come to the forefront (once acknowledged by them), then you'd have a AR facetime with them, discuss something, then get back to work. ...In about a decade or two.

Today, it would be a clumsy, interrupting experience, or worse.  But it might beat driving to an office.   Put on your VP and get to work.   The virtual office cubicle farm.

  • Apple Vision Pro battery cable is removable if you try hard enough

I want to see the ifixit teardown of the VP.

  • 'Strong action' is coming if the EU doesn't like Apple's App Store concessions

Was the spirit of the law access to iPhone hardware or through and App Store for free?
Is the letter of the law access to iPhone hardware or through and App Store for free?
I don't think any company can or should be forced to give away access to its hardware or the tools to do so.

iPhone isn't a Mac or a PC where one merely develops software that can be downloaded and installed by a user.  That's an older ecosystem fraught with privacy and security hazards.   That's why the iPhone is locked down (or at least one reason given).

I'm not saying Apple's charges for this side-loading is fair to everyone.  It's really hard to define "fair" because it's such a weasel word used by weasels who complain they're not getting something for free or for not letting them play in your sandbox and with your toys on your property on their schedule not yours, etc.

  • What to expect from Apple's Q1 2024 earnings report

However, it still beat the expectations of Wall Street.

This is the most meaningless thing the financial industry promotes and I wish they would just stahp it.

Why?   Because "expectations" of Wall Street "analysts" (sarcastic quotes are deliberate) of results are guesses of said analysts.  Take the average of all the guesses and you have expectations.  Have too many analysts guess poorly too much one way or the other and you have either a miss or a beat.   It's just dumb.

Analysts can manipulate the market if they chose to deliberately guess too high.  I'd rather see the results or the analysts reported against the results.

This is just my comment and not reflective of the authors choice of words or use of them.  I enjoy listening to the calls live as an investor.  Thanks for this article.
