  • The OpenCore patcher will help older Macs run macOS Sonoma -- eventually

Apple made a Wi-Fi change somewhere along the line and started dropping the drivers gradually here and there.  Wi-Fi can be had sometimes with upgrades of cards from newer models that still work in older models.  Major architecture changes may prevents that.

  • Hands on with Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Air at WWDC

I've noticed the odd 24GB ram maximum and the image on Apple's site for the M2 shows TWO RAM chips for the new Air and 100GB/s memory bandwidth.
Since it comes with 8, 16, or 24GB, then they must be mixing and 8 and a 16 to get 24GB.

However, when I saw the new Mac Pro "only" supports 192GB, thats 48GBx4 or 12GBx8 (could not find a pic showing the number of RAM ICs for the M2 Ultra) and 800GB/s memory bandwidth.

What's up with the odd sizes?

100GB/s vs. 800GB/s implies 8x the ICs as the M2, but I doubt the Ultra has sixteen ICs compared to two with the M2.  If the M2 is mixing RAM sizes, would they do that with the Ultra?

I won't even get into the non-power of 2 number of cores.

I have a 2013 iMac running Ventura through OCLP.  It's great.  All SSDs now, 32GB, all the security updates, etc.  OCLP is a great tool.

I don't CARE about new features unsupported.  My experience is the same as it was when my iMac was new.  There's a lot of things I never used (like the camera).

It's when graphics acceleration is not supported that the experience sucks.  That's when you stick with the old OS until you replace your hardware.   I ran Catalina for a long time, until I finally jumped to Big Sur on OCLP last year and patiently waited for OCLP to support Ventura.  It took them about 6 months to get it working.

  • Canada Pension fund increases held Apple shares by 50%, slashes Tesla stake by 53%

AAPL has been outperforming TSLA for the last several months.   AAPL will continue to have steady growth long term.

TSLA is going to start to pop when FSD and Tesla not come online.  It could be years.  TSLA is going to rise as it’s revenue bests all other automotive companies and as it’s sales grow more and more.

  • Family hit with $3,100 App Store bill after kid goes on Roblox spending spree

This story is sooooo 2012.   Are parents still this uninformed?

Since the answer is and likely always will be yes, I’m surprised Apple hasn’t put in roadblocks or purchase limits by default.
It would be the right thing to do.
