  • Apple TV app now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5

    crowley said:
Cool.  I'll probably get rid of my Apple TV box now then; no need for it.
I was just going to say I don’t want to fire up the noisy beast that is my PlayStation over the AppleTV that I have.  :D

  • Parallels, VMWare confirm Apple M1 support amid silence from other virtualization companie...

From reading their page about it, it seems like this new version is going to still be a purely virtualisation software, with no emulation. So if you want to run Windows with it, it'll have to be the ARM version of Windows. However, apparently Microsoft have announced a "Rosetta"-type layer for Windows for ARM, that will allow you to run x64 code in Windows for ARM.
A Microsoft version of Rosetta. What could go wrong there?  :D

Here’s hoping Parallels is working on emulation for their next big release.

  • Apple Silicon M1 Macs do not support eGPUs

Hmm, I guess this isn’t a surprise, but it is interesting all the Macs that don’t support discrete GPUs were the ones updated today, implying in the future they will either introduce a chip with a much better GPU or otherwise are still trying to work with AMD to maintain their graphics options in later models.
No one is buying a Mac mini, iPad Air, or 13" MacBook Pro for the GPU power.  These are entry level machines for the average person.

Much ado about nothing as always.
We are discussing the capability and speed of the GPU versus the Intel Macs and Apple's M1, as to whether it really is much faster than the Intel ones. People might have liked to use a 13" Macbook with an eGPU for power, but now they can't, so the discussion is quite relevant. Whilst you might not care, many people don't see that as "much ado about nothing".
You’re right. I’m sure all 10 of those people are going to be extremely upset at this news, @crowley being one of them.

Give Apple time. This is round 1 of the M1 and Apple did a lot to improve the compute experience of probably 90% of their customer base. Apple goes with what’s ready at the time when they are ready to launch. They could have waited a year to make the switch to Core 2 Duo’s when they made the switch but they didn’t.

The Mac Pro wheel of charging solutions.
    It’s a joke.
Are you kidding? This will be a huge hit.
Are you kidding?  Not for $129 plus the cost of a charger, that is not included.  It is a joke.  So is the leather sleeve for the same price.  No one needs this cheaply made product.  Early reviews basically call it a joke.  You need two hands or manipulate your fingers to get the phone off the pad because the pad remains stuck to the phone, risking damage to your watch if it falls off.  Reviews said the lack of a hinge makes it very cheap as well as the materials used to make it.  They agreed it was grossly overpriced and felt more like a $79 product, not $129.  You can charge better with the $19 USB-C 20W charger, and charge much faster too.  Most people charge their watch with the included cable and a 5w charger because the battery in the watch is so small.
Reviewers get much more clicks/views when they praise Apple products... /s

    and your last sentence really???

Read it again but now with the MagSafe duo charger in mind.

Stop spilling non-sense like the toddler in the WH.
Sorry you disagree, but there are far better options out there for a lot less than $148.
Boy a whole bunch of you today. Guess what there are also cheaper options for: iPad keyboards, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc...Yet people still buy the Apple options. Why? Price is not the primary consideration for the majority of Apple products. Why this isn't obvious to you by this point in your life is a mystery...
Say it with me slowly this time, it's... a... charger. Big difference buying a quality aftermarket charger and some cheap Android tablet. Why this isn't obvious to you by this point in your life is a mystery...

Congratulations. You win the "I'm going to ignore everything you said because orange man bad." award for the day.

Name one option out there that provide the MagSafe iPhone Charger and Watch Charger.

    Waiting...
If you live in an earthquake prone zone and "need" MagSafe, you are correct. There aren't any, even Apple doesn't offer one yet. Let's revisit in a month or two.

In the mean time there are many options without MagSafe that work exceptionally well and are ~ $90 - $100 cheaper.
I don't live anywhere near earthquakes, but have already experienced the shortcomings of normal Xi charging pads, with misalignments, slow charging, and dead phones in the morning. We've tried them, they aren't great. I suspect this will be better, and if so that delivers value, and I don't mind paying good money for value-adding things. Also, it's the MagSafe that allows for 15W charging.
I never had any issues with quality aftermarket chargers and products. Not only do aftermarket adapters work great with Apple products, but they work a lot better with other products as well.

I'm surprised at all your bad luck. Surprising for someone as intelligent as you. Maybe you are better off sticking to all Apple products.

  • Apple introduces new Apple Silicon Mac mini with $699 price tag

If it makes you feel any better I bought one last November before the storage refresh.  :D

So, I’m assuming the M1 will run Windows via Parallels “x” times faster?
