  • Ralph Nader once again assails Apple's stock buybacks

Everybody seems to have a lot of ideas for how Apple should spend its money when it’s literally one of the few companies in the world that honestly tries to do things the right way. 100% clean energy goal, 100% recycling goal, no conflcit minerals, privacy protections, an inspection process for 3rd party manufacturers...

Don’t punish one of the only companies in the world that has figured out how to do capitalism without being straight up evil.

  • Apple's first HomePod ads urge customers to 'order now'

Tricky to show off good sound capabilities when people are watching the commercial on a device with lesser sound capabilities. But I think they did a good job and at least put the focus on sound, not siri

  • Apple unlikely to develop an Echo-like standalone Siri speaker - report

This is essential for HomeKit. Otherwise you have to carry your iOS device to with you at all times to control lights, etc, and guests are unable to do things at all.

Control of a fixed devices requires a fixed control. You never want to have to go find your light switch.

  • Apple SVP Lisa Jackson named as member of new US DOT automated vehicle committee

Super interesting to recruit a former EPA head who primarily works on clean energy.
I really have no idea how to predict what Trump's ultimate environmental strategy is going to be.

  • With Verizon, Comcast, Spectrum customers still waiting, Cable One joins Apple's Single Si...

Single sign-on is so close to being good, but still kind of sucks.
There's a reason they call it "single sign on" instead of single sign in":

First you sign on to your cable provider in settings.
    Then you download available apps.
Then you go into each app individually and click "sign in" and authorize the app to use your single sign on.
THEN you go to the app TV app and authorize the TV app to use content from your newly signed-on apps.

    It really should be:
    Single sign on in settings
Every new app you download that supports single sign on is automatically authorized (using a token system if necessary to maintain privacy)
TV app automatically pulls in available content
