  • New MacBook Pro with Touch Bar models arrive at select Apple stores

Back to building a  hackintosh for me. Im wanting a powerful desktop not a laptop that has been lobotomised because of battery life.
Laptops are all about balance.  And while building a hackintosh was fun (I do miss being able to play with the innards) I didn't miss the reliability of a system that was tested.  Can't tell you the number of times the system would just crash in the wee hours of the morning when I was really wanting to be productive.  All that power, with huge amounts of time it would not work.  Not to mention the constant threat of wondering when the next crash would be.  Getting too old for that.

Got my new system yesterday, have been using for a day and can report:

    Pros:
    All working perfect
New bar is kinda cool, not sure I would use it all that much though.  (Maybe while traveling when I don't have other input devices)
GPU is rocking fast, can play Starcraft at much higher settings
    Keyboard is precise
Screen is super sharp and bright
Could hook up my desk with 1 dongle (was surprised after all the press on this).

    Cons:
    Keyboard is loud
CPU is showing to be slower than my older computer on Geekbench, not sure if I trust this number through.  And, I know it is less about that than usability
Price.  This is where I am struggling the most.  Again, great machine, but not 3K better than the old unit.  So, will give it the next week and see if it grows on me.

  • Jony Ive speaks on means and methods of 'Designed by Apple in California' book

Really think the election is getting to everyone, the only way to comment is in a bi-polar way.  It's not like they stopped everything and made a book, they probably brought in other folks to help out with the effort.

  • Samsung takes out full-page ad to apologize to Galaxy Note 7 users for quality issues

And what ever happened to the idea of disabling these devices from the carrier level.  Would like it a bit more if they didn't make it onto planes just because the user was not aware.

This also makes me think that the unit on the plane was maybe not actually powered down, guessing there is not really a way to know.  I see it all the time, the person across the aisle on taxi still texting, putting his phone down every time the attendant walks by.  We are not a culture of rule followers.
