Apple executives say creating Mac Studio was 'overwhelming'

It might make some inroads with data metrics/science fields if they can get software optimized for it. They are starting from way way behind CUDA on this.Seems like Apple should just select a group of scientific software companies and partner with them (pay them) to develop and optimize their wares for Apple hardware. Wouldn't cost much and might sell some hardware, plus build the brand and encourage others to develop for Apple hardware. -
iCloud outages resolved after nearly every Apple service went down globally
Appleish said:All roads lead to Putin.
Sort of. They way it works over there is Putin, via his crime posse, has made it clear that Russian hackers can do whatever they want, as long as they leave Russian systems alone. If they hack anyone or anything outside Russia, there will be no serious consequences. But Ol' Poutine operates like Hitler in that he does not give any written commands. His (ill) will is expressed via his lackies and only verbally. So the outages may very well have come from Russia, but there will be no trail to Putin.

Tested: Mac Studio with M1 Max vs. Mac Studio with M1 Ultra
Seeing the two machines stacked made me think of some of the big clusters of the past, including those made with Macs (ex: Virginia Tech's Big Mac). This compact machine with it's built-in fast interconnects seems like a natural for that sort of super computer. Are clusters still being used for big computing projects?

How the new Mac Studio fills a crucial gap in Apple's desktop lineup
It still blows my mind a bit that Apple dominated video editing with both Final Cut and the Mac Pro towers, only to throw all that away by creating a new and unwanted Final Cut and neglecting the Mac Pros. Plus, it was all Steve Jobs doing!Jump to now, and Final Cut has mananged to regain some market share, but there wasn't a mid-level Mac Pro-like machine to run it on. Remember, Final Cut is a bargain (both then and now) so it is used by low end editors and high end pros alike. The Mac Studio, with all it's video acceleration and CPU power, seems the perfect choice for a broad range of Final Cut users. Maybe Apple win back a few of those Final Cut users they lost. -
Apple Silicon Mac Pro could combine two M1 Ultra chips for speed
What does it take to make a motherboard compatible with PCIe? Just a bridge chip? Would Apple have to change or build new tech into a "M2" chip to make it compatible with a PCIe bus? Would the tech in UltraFusion be useful in creating a high speed interconnect in M2 chips to speed up PCIe interface?
