  • Rumor that Apple will launch a web search engine pops up again

All Search engines primary focus is revenue generation.

Marketing to consumers about Privacy or lack of bubbles means little.

What they want is the noise reduced so that the signal can be heard more clearly
which means an adequate search engine needs blocking mechanisms for unwanted sites or results as well as
the ability to set your own custom preferences and priority.

Search Operators is an area Apple could make less byzantine.
The web has turned into a cacophony of noise, clangs and bangs and honestly today a search engine doesn't need to
search the interernet as much as it needs to surface good content which was a goal of Google that quickly failed.

  • End of an era: Apple's last iPod has been discontinued

When Microsoft reached its zenith ...it saw the solution to every problem as a windows based solution and that harmed them after time.

Apple's equally getting stuck in tunnel vision syndrome where every solution is an iPhone.

The iPod lineup had plenty of life but Apple was more interested in slanging phones.  Stop proclaiming you love music.  You haven't done
anything in the space beyond what Amazon/Spotify/Tidal/Deezer/Qobuz and a handful of others aren't doing as well.

I love Apple but they've always lacked the latitude to manage a wide array of products.

  • Elon Musk says Apple's 30% commission rate is 'definitely not ok'

Musk is an ass but he's right on this one.

Apple charges a heavy commission and then had the audacity to implement ads in the App Store.  "Just dig down a bit deeper if you want to get to the front of the line. Never mind that we acquired Chomp to make finding good apps easier in the store"

Apple is a business that needs to make profits so what they give with the right hand they must take a bit back with the left.

  • Netflix blames account sharing for first subscriber loss in a decade

Our Netflix is from my Wife's account.  They should be happy because I would have cancelled them after they flubbed the Chappelle incident.   Netflix response to that event showed me that the CEO is inept.  I'm always Pro Creator even if the lines of offensiveness are blurrred a bit.   Now with their sad excuse for dropping numbers after what 3 price hikes in the last few years just smacks of them being dishonest.

  • Smarthome firm and early HomeKit partner Insteon is dead, with no warning to customers

Not surprised.  Nokia was tweeting like mad about their forthcoming lighting system based on Insteon and then a few months ago they went silent.  Not a tweet, email ..nothing.  They must have backed off at light speed.
