  • Ikea's new Matter-over-Thread smart home gear will work with HomeKit

$110 and no POE??   It's already dated.

  • Trump's new China trade deal is still bad for US business & consumers

30 years ago people took the the streets in states across the US to protest the move towards globalization with protests agains NAFTA  and WTO and now the predictable results are here and the US politicians most who were adults back in the mid 90s themselves are telling the citizens they should pay more for what their mistake.   There is no accountability for what was an obvious bad move.  Citizens did not cause the trade imbalance in fact it cost us in lost jobs.

  • Apple may need to acquire AI firms to boost Apple Intelligence

There's a problem with the Top Brass at Apple.   They are being way too soft.

When nobody investor firms are squawking about "pie in the sky" futures with AI

You need a leader at the top that tells it like it is.   Businesses are looking to leverage

AI and most of the companies with heavy financial expenditure in AI have big

business in mind.   Apple is primarily focused on the residential sector and this sector

will always trail businesses' needs with scaled down and simplified product and service

selections.   Apple doesn't need to acquire any large firms they just need to clean up

their business processes and realize that their marketing message and company behavior

has been weak and tepid.  They have lost the edge that Jobs worked hard to bring to Apple

because Tim Cook is not that guy.

  • Apple's AI ambitions go beyond Siri LLM with Knowledge chatbot and always-on AI copilot

AI has not proven solid demonstrable benefits across the strata of users  to warrant giving these companies 250 dollar or more per year.  Everyone understands ROI as it pertains to their needs.

The notion that Apple is behind suggest that this is a race where the path is known and it's merely an effort of putting one leg in front of the other leg faster than the competition.  That's not what the landscape is like.   AI right now is like a group of people wandering in the desert looking for water and they don't where that water is so they're all moving in a huddle in the most sensible direction for the group.

My boss is jazzed about CoPilot being able to quickly surface information unique to our company from the data that we input.  That's worth it to him because most modern knowledge-base systems fail at producing relevant information quickly.   He's not gonna be interested in some of the more esoteric stuff that Investors are frothing at the mouth for.  He knows his business already he just needs faster access to data.

I imagine the real thrust to move towards AI will be this faster knowledge retrieval.    The non deterministic nature of AI means that the same input will yield different outputs.  You still have to knowledgeable decisions even after sifting through AI analysis.

Don't fool yourself...this AI is Beta and companies want to start producing revenue to appease investors.  Companies need solid deliverables.  When we buy a tool or heavy equipment we fully understand what its bringing to the table.  AI is still figuring out what it can bring.

Apple has time...this AI stuff largely isn't ready for production.

  • Apple TV+ is about art more than iPhone sales says Tim Cook

The nature of cinematic production now is the marketplace.

Basically a lot of movies on made on spec and if there's buzz they can entertain the offers
of multiple parties to distribute.   There is nothing magical about Apple TV +.  Apple can afford
to "cherry pick" the good films.

To me Apple TV + should be the first leg in a trio.

Apple maintains Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro but there's no real ability to take the output and feed
it into spaces where people are looking for content.

Apple TV is for wealthy creatives.  What I want to see is

A YouTube replacement for people that still want quality.   So no emphasis on low production quality
shorts and videos,  sponsorships are ok with vetting from Apple.  The algorithm would show preference
    for quality content.

Artist music videos link back to Apple Music and iTunes (if available).

Apple should continue to get more live action content so that it's more of a random destination
versus serial watching.  Create a Education series that young people looking to STEM can enjoy

My kid's likely not going to drive an F1 car but he just might be something special in the Tech world.

Frankly I hope the iPhone sales stay flat.  All of Apple's successes have been upon the back of the iPhone.
Apple hasn't done much beyond this tight little iOS ecosystem and frankly all of the Tech Oligarchs have
planted flags in key areas and don't willfully compete with each.   Hungry companies are motivated
