  • Goldman Sachs lost $1.2 billion in 2022 mostly because of Apple Card

The Apple Card falls under Platform Solutions within GS which includes credit card partnerships and point of sale financing.  It also includes Transaction Banking.  All of this is not just Apple. While provisions for credit losses did move higher it is not accurate to say the $1.2 billion loss (9 months) is attributable to Apple. The GS earnings call is next week so more info at that time. Also Business Insider has not been a credible source for years unless you like cat videos and memes.  I suggest you read WSJ.com which is more accurate.
I was reading up on it as the 'lead' of that story made no sense. There's much bigger issues about how the deficit occurs than offering the Apple Card.

  • Apple leaves the field in NFL Sunday Ticket negotiations

Don't need more sports in our house. One of the reasons we dumped cable years ago was the ESPN costs. No one here cares or watches. I guess the mega-sports concerns will just continue to grab the wallets of 'fans'.

Apple has tons of cash. This is what's it's for: to extend your lead when the market is in a downturn. Judicious is fine (does that mean that Apple wasn't judicious previously?) but tying a hand behind your back when you're making record revenue doesn't make sense.

Nah, stores might have been necessary 10 years ago, not anymore. Cash should be used for R and D and acquisitions and stock buy backs ,

Close the non performing stores   immediately ,  can save a ton of cost there just closing 1/3 of them
We have no idea if any store isn't profitable. And the value of the store isn't just selling devices. Support from those stores is hugely important as a value add for customers. I mean, if the company wasn't earning billions in profit monthly, maybe. But I have a feeling not a single apple store loses money.

  • Apple will take a decade to move just some production out of China

The real question is - why is this ONLY an issue for Apple? Car companies part manufacturing, furnaces, 80% of all Walmart products...But this is an issue for Apple? If suddenly, overnight, all US manufacturing in China were to end the least important issue would be the iPhones.

  • Apple continuing full-court press against retail unionization efforts

Unions are the single most important thing that happened to labor in the history of…well labor. To blow off how they help is simply ignorance of the history of working people in the US. Apple is simply playing the the age old game of - let’s pay as little as we can. Which is to be expected. But then workers also have the right to organize to counter the owners. Sometimes unions make mistakes, but guess what, private companies make mistakes too. But ignoring the value that labor unions have brought to workers is short sighted. Any history of the U.S. would demonstrate the value of labor unions.
