  • Facebook CFO says personalized advertising 'under assault' by Apple privacy changes

I have deleted all my third-party apps on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook...I visit everything via a link in Safari.

I love the little "shield" icon on MacOS Safari. One-step setting!

I don't use Google, FaceBook, Twitter, or Microsoft products.

I wish Apple would create and invest in a facebook-like social media app, a twitter-like app, a search engine, an Amazon-like app and offer no ads, no tracking, etc., etc., and just look at it as an investment to make the internet experience more....how should I say it? Apple-like! :)

FYI: I think I have this right, of all the personal data that has been harvested by bad actors (see above) 98% has been harvested in the last 2 years! :)

  • 2020 iPhone to reduce TrueDepth notch, full-screen display rumored for 2021

That's what Apple does! And everyone else follows with a 'good enough' second rate copy. Oh, well. :)

  • Apple's iPhone privacy ad campaign continues with new billboards

Apple is really onto something here.

I emailed all the App Developers of the few Third Party Apps I use both on my iOS devices and MacOS, TVOS. I asked them directly if they collect, distill and sell my personal information.

All of them assured me they don't. Some of them were quite offended even though in the first sentence I said, "please don't be offended..." :)

I listen to a few Apple podcasts, (mainly ones with Jason Snell), and it amazes me when, guests extoll the virtues of Android, Google, Google Docs, Chrome, etc. They just gloss over the privacy issue!

I know there maybe better Note apps, Messaging apps, Podcast apps, email apps, Pages-like apps, Numbers-like apps, Books apps, Calendar apps, Map apps, News apps, Music apps, Contacts apps, Photo apps, PDF Reader apps, Password generation apps, Online Backup apps, etc, etc., but I only trust Apple.

And that's why I only use their apps! :)

I've never been on FB, never been on Twitter, use DuckDuckGo as my browser,

Apple's iPhones collect on average 75 data points a day, Android (or as I call them 'Taliban' phones) collect 1,500 data points a day).

FB collects  29,000 data points on each of its users! (Source: Scott Galloway, Pivot Podcast - Really recommend it.)

  • If you use Google Chrome on your Mac, update it right now

Seriously, who’s dumb enough to use Google spyware on their Mac?  😂
    Agreed!

If FaceBook wasn't around, Google would be getting all the scrutiny and bad press.

I use DuckDuckGo. I don't have any Google products on my devices or in my home or office.

  • The best PDF apps to use for editing, redacting, and for OCR in macOS Mojave

One of the best little apps I've ever used was PDF Shrink. It would shrink 15 page contracts down to email-able sizes. It was a life saver.
