Services buoy slumping iPhone sales in record-breaking holiday quarter earnings
sunman42 said:JFC_PA said:lol. A 0.008608321377331 drop in phone sales revenue is “slumping”?
Good one. More in line with the text itself “marginal”.Buy a better headline writer. It’s less than 1%. Hardly “slumping”. Problem is Wall Street culture, and those who write about it expecting exponential growth not just in the bottom line, but individual segments as well. Meanwhile, Apple is selling almost a quarter trillion dollars worth of iPhones every year. -
Apple's biggest innovation of the last 25 years isn't the iPhone
For the love of Pete, it’s BALDFACED, not boldfaced. As for the content, it just a history on macOS development. And yes, I totally disagree that the iPhone isn’t the single biggest innovation. The graphical user interface was always going to evolve. But it alone didn’t drive Mac sales in almost any respect. What made Apple the company it is today was the iPod and the iPhone. Both products turned, Apple into more than a computer company, but almost a lifestyle brand. They laid the foundation for the iPad, accessories, etc. -
Apple sued over 2022 dropping of CSAM detection features
The lawsuit is absurd on its face. It’s not whether Apple should or shouldn’t have implemented the feature. That’s a debate we can all have. It’s about whether Apple deciding not to proceed makes it *legally liable* for what happened to a class. The argument that apple products are knowingly defective because they chose not to implement a controversial is just laughable. As everything is obviously a financial calculation, Apple will fight this one all the way. -
Rumors of an Apple-made TV set are back again
I just don’t buy it. There are so many reasons why Apple‘s not going to do this. you’re talking about a market where the vast majority of people don’t pay for premium devices. The cheaper brands and models are more than sufficient. Sure, there are people buying $2500 sets instead of $500 ones at the same size, but most people can go down to Walmart and buy a 75 inch TV for 600 bucks…and it looks pretty darn good. I just don’t see why Apple would want to get involved in that market. -
