  • Apple's Chief Information Officer, VP of online retail are leaving the company

Wow, that’s a lot of churn. I hope they can manage
These are areas of stagnation for Apple. Each is in need of new blood and ideas to push forward.

  • Unionized Australian Apple Store employees set to strike again

I work retail and full-time employees do not get two-day weekends unless they’re professional (healthcare) staff. If that 17% above normal is true, the workers have nothing to complain about.
What’s missing is the point Apple has made for decades that there is no way employees can get a weekend day off in retail, and all of a sudden they can.

I don’t like unions either, but it’s amazing what can happen when you threaten a company with deep pockets with one.

Why does it have to escalate to this??
They need to hire more part timers and split the hours of the full time staff. The problem is when you let the full time staff off on weekends, they are off when most needed. The weekend is the busiest times so all hands need to be on deck. I would make weekends a 50% salary increase. Or offer a $1000 bonus to any employees who works a certain number of weekend hours per month. Don’t want to work when we need you most, you will make less.

This 30% Apple Tax on stuff not related to the AppleStore or Apple Servers is going to come back and bite Apple in the a**.
It’s all related to Apple’s servers and API’s. It’s why they need Apple to begin with. Otherwise it could function on their servers and be accessed within their own secure browser. Use Apple technology marketing and 50 years of goodwill, you pay for it. Use your own and Apple will happily allow you to have a browser based app to access you servers.

Another way of looking at it is, Apple is partnering or investing in companies of all sizes by providing them with a fully furnished worldwide store front, the tools to make their products, the warehouse to store unlimited amounts of products, the bandwidth to stream or transmit data, manage security on their apps, and possibly manage the support of those products. All of this for $99 per year ($8.25 per  month) in rent.

The simple agreement is that if you make money from using these resources, Apple l makes money.  Currently, 15% of non-recurring purchases and subscriptions for companies making less than a million dollars per year and 30% for million+ enterprises on single purchases and first year subscriptions. These drop to 15% after that first year.

Developers that offer a free app or invests in their own platform pay a whopping $0.

  • New 16-inch iPad rumored to arrive in late 2023

This makes sense now. The minor updates with mainly moving to the M2 chip tells me they are attempting to have everything on M2 before January. There may be an unrevealed feature required to run apps compatible with rOS.  If they announce a headset in January, Integrations and app compatibility will be required.

I also believe Apple has been laying a foundation for a convertible Tablet that can dynamically switch between Mac OS and iPad OS depending on how it’s being used, attached accessories, like a keyboard and mouse, and user preference.

The work to bring interface behaviors and features to some parity and the ability to not only more easily port iPad apps to the Mac, but to natively run those apps natively via a universal binary seems to point to a move in this direction.

Add in Continuity running between OS versions on device and you have a hybrid that is an iPad when you pick it up and a Mac when you add a wireless keyboard and mouse.

    Foldable maybe?

I don't get it. Why does this update for Windows have support for iPads? Are there unfortunate people who need to use their iPads with Windows? So sad...

For adding the new iPads from backups stored on the computer.
You mean a Windows computer? Why would a Windows user want an iPad instead of a Surface?
They want a tablet with an OS that’s doesn’t have DOS as a foundation.
