  • Apple employees face reprisals, possible termination over return to office policy

But does a return to the office makes sense from a productivity perspective? For most employees, in the office is nothing more than a proxy for are you working -- and a poor one at that.
The truth is work from home will never be as productive as in person unless you live alone and even then there are distractions. If you don’t want to be supervised in person you should start your own business. The other side to it is if people are willing to goof off while at work being monitored, what do you think is happening at home. I can tell you that dealing with companies with people at home has not been a good experience for me. Dogs barking g and children yelling in the background is distracting to me and them. I know when my son is out of school, working from home is a real challenge.

I guess it’s easier when you are on salary and get paid no matter how you perform, but when you are paid based on your performance it’s matters.

  • Apple, Alphabet, Meta push back against US spy law

One thing this article gets me thinking is who is Edward Snowden really. It wasn’t until 3 years later in 2016 that we realized how involved Russia has been in attempting to manipulate and infiltrate our government agencies and politics. The fact that he was welcomed with open arms in Russia is concerning in retrospect to say the least.

  • No, Google Bard is not trained on Gmail data

I think it would have been more prudent to say that Google denies Bard was trained on Gmail data, as given Google’s track record on honesty is … not something you should take as definitive, let’s just say.

Out of the mouths of babes … or bards, in this case …
So please tell me when they actually stopped scanning emails for data. They said the would stop a year after being caught doing it, but didn’t at that point. There have been no announcements claiming they had stopped since. This may be a carefully worded statement where gmail wasn’t used directly but a repository of data gleaned from all of their sources was used.

  • Epic must pay $245M after luring customers into 'Fortnite' purchases

Keep in mind that the majority of their customers are outside the Apple ecosystem. The reason they are fighting to bypass Apple goes much further than 15 or 30 percent commissions. Apple rules forbid this type of activity and since they control the refund process they Epicq likely couldn’t perform business as usual. These actions likely double or triple their revenue. So, it was never about 30 percent, but stealing 300 percent more.

Side loading and alternative payments is a terrible idea and here’s the reason.

  • Siri might get an AI boost, after testing improvements in tvOS

I find Siri does far more than expected and limitations may be based on settings on individual phones. Siri reminds me where to go, remembers where I may go every week at a certain time on Monday and show it in notifications as a reminder. Reminds me when I’m separated from my devices that were traveling with me. I realized yesterday that she could change to a from dark mode by voice command. And so much more.
