We were told Russia had the most advanced and powerful military in the world.
    Who told you that?
CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, FOX, NYT, et al. So did the various retired U.S. generals flapping their gums on those news channels. They all predicted a quick victory by the vaunted Russian military machine over the outnumbered, out gunned Ukrainians. I guess you weren’t paying attention.
Predicting a quick victory over Ukraine does not mean that the Russian military was considered more advanced or powerful than that of the United States, and I doubt that the sources you cite all claimed that it was. The U.S. has about 40% more people in active service and a much bigger budget ($740 billion vs. $42 billion). There are other factors involved beyond resources and headcounts, of course, but it’s hard to imagine a consensus of U.S. generals claiming that Russia’s military is superior overall.

  • Playdate review: Panic's first hardware product is adorable & fun

It looks cool, but costs a lot more than I would guess, given that you can get a new 32gb iPod Touch for $20 more.

If he were willing to forego bragging rights, he could keep this a secret and improve the chances of himself and others being able to continue to do this.

  • It's time for Apple to revisit these iconic products

It would be great if they redesigned the mouse so you could use it wired or wireless, and even leave it plugged in forever if the cord bothers you less than having to worry about periodically charging it would. I know you could say that charging requires minimal effort, but people are willing to spend money for bulky and inefficient wireless charging systems like MagSafe, so it’s definitely an issue for some. Of course, you could probably also have a mousepad that wirelessly charges the mouse at a very low level, just turning on automatically for a few minutes a day or something.

  • Crime Blotter: Fake federal agent indictment includes gifted iPhones

The best detail from the original report about the school superintendent is that she’s from Belchertown.

And I hope the police on the cinder block case aren’t really limiting their search to women with bright orange hair—that looks like a dude in a wig to me.
