I want to know more about that used iPad valued at $2,573.67. I hate to think of how much that must have cost when it was new. (Edit: I guess some angry person might point out that the most expensive model with all options is $2,599 new, so maybe I…

Of course, it’s also possible that the battery capacity will be lower than average but battery life will be higher, since battery life depends on much more than just the battery capacity.

Another thing that might help to make the upcoming numbers look good is the weakening dollar. All of the uncertainty relating to tariffs, to US disinterest in global leadership (severe cuts to aid, State Dept., US embassies, Radio Free Europe) and d…

I don’t see any way that the tariffs could remain in place for anything other than a very short period without leading to a financial situation that would destroy the Republican Party for years to come. People were furious about inflation under Bide…

If these tariffs aren’t reversed right away (which wouldn’t entirely surprise me), we’ll be seeing pretty extreme inflation for all kinds of goods, so if Apple raises prices I don’t think it will raise so many eyebrows, especially given how little p…

The difference in best-case scenarios seems unlikely to matter in normal use, but it’s the worst-case scenarios where you need all the help you can get. Apple has a pretty good record of prioritizing the stuff that matters over what is likely to loo…

Interesting to see who would “buy” Chrome, for how much, and why. Not like it’s very good as a direct source of revenue.

In the range of possible things they could have omitted to distinguish this model from the 16 that costs $200 more, MagSafe magnets seem like one of the more minor compromises to me. I’m not sure I’d pay $200 for a Dynamic Island, mmWave or ultrawid…

The business model isn’t so complicated, but apparently it’s a little too complicated for some people to understand. If someone could calculate how much the developers are making from advertising on the free apps, Apple’s cut of that (0%) should def…

We should have much stricter limits on money going to politicians in every case, but there’s also a huge difference between supporting a campaign to help the person you want to see elected, and giving money to the person who has already won the elec…

A long shot, but bringing back optical audio output (which TV used to have) would be great for AirPlay directly to the stereo system without requiring a third-party HDMI audio extractor component. Not holding my breath, of course.

Some previous iPhone models did have a “bar” camera arrangement, but it ran parallel to the length of the phone. If they do it again, it would make more sense to do it that way, for shooting 3D images and video in landscape orientation.
