Surfshark, TurboVPN and more are secretly undermining security
I got an Express VPN subscription a few years ago to use my movie streaming services for a few weeks in a foreign country. After I signed up, they demanded a scan of my driver’s license, but I protested like crazy and they eventually said they didn’t really need it, it had just been a mistake on their part. That was creepy enough that I have been leery of VPNs ever since. -
Apple leaks its own dual-port 35W power adapter
I would love to see a small iPhone charger with tapered sides (narrowest near the prongs) so it would be easier to pull out of outlets. The combination of the smooth flat parallel sides and small size on the current ones makes it very difficult to pull out of tight outlets. It’s always been a cool-looking design, but I’d sacrifice a little beauty for ease of use at this point, and they could probably still make it look nice. -
Apple's iPhone 13 is significantly faster than Samsung's latest Galaxy S22

Apple to pay $30M to retail employees for off-the-clock bag, device searches
MplsP said:If a company requires an employee to spend their time on something as a condition of employment then the employee should be compensated for that time. That’s not that radical of an idea.
if you’re getting paid for it, you could presumably make a little extra cash or work a little less if you always brought a whole bunch of stuff that was onerous to search. That said, I’m all for workers getting paid fairly. If I were in Apple’s position, I would have tried to get the workers to agree to a slight across-the-board raise that would account for the average time that a worker typically spends getting searched and might not have initially realized they would be responsible for when they signed their contracts, which seems like it would be the fairest for all workers because it doesn’t disproportionately benefit those who bring stuff to work over those who don’t.
