  • Music industry heads towards recovery on streaming services like Spotify & Apple Music

Meanwhile artist revenues are NOT on the road to recovery.
Artists make their money from touring.
But songwriters don't make their money from touring, they make it from royalties. And most artists who are building a fan base make very little touring and sometimes lose money. Meanwhile, Starbucks continues to sell flavored water for $3-5 a cup, and most people seem fine with that. A couple cups of coffee costs as much as a month of Netflix. How ridiculous is that?

Haha! It's funny to see what people consider "professional photography" these days.  "Nordeman was able to execute his signature style -- surprising moments from unique perspectives" That's a pretty common "style", even for many amateurs. Nothing unique about it. I guess if you have ever received payment for even one photo you are considered a "professional photographer", even if you have no clue what an f-stop is. Regarding the new camera, I don't really see much depth of field in the sample photos. I was hoping it would be a little more prominent. I'm waiting until next year to upgrade my 5S, so hopefully the camera will be even better in a year.
Nordeman has shot for ESPN, Time, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and Vogue, to name a few. Are you really suggesting that he shouldn't be called a professional photographer? Get real.
Yes, my OPINION is that the quality and composition of his photography (not just here but in his portfolio) is more in line with an amateur. As I stated in my original comment, it seems the benchmark these days for being considered "professional" is if you have sold your work, and not on the quality of the content. There are now apps that let any schmuck sell a picture to their local news station or as a stock photo. So I guess whoever does that is a "professional photographer".

Sorry if my opinion runs counter to yours.

  • iOS 10 Messages gain rich links, 3X bigger emojis, bubble effects & third-party app integration

Speaking of emojis...figuratively it's been happening for decades, but now you can literally buy a piece of crap at Wal-Mart.

Hurl! While it's nice to see Apple leveraging iMessage and locking people in to only talking with other iMessage users, if anyone I know uses this new obnoxiousness more than once I'm going to have to block their number. Looks perfect for the 14 year old girl demographic.
Haha! Seriously, who was in charge of these enhancements, a bunch of tweens?

  • Report insists Apple 'keeping options open' on phasing out iTunes downloads

Just to cast my vote, I don't stream music and never will. I prefer to buy music rather than rent it. Also, streaming music services are based on a business model that can only work if content creators, songwriters, and publishers are paid unreasonably low royalties. If you can't afford to pay at least $0.01, a PENNY, in royalties every time a song is streamed, then your business model is inherently flawed and not sustainable.
