  • Target denies reports of imminent Apple Pay addition to retail stores

What department store do you shop at then? I don't know of a major department store retailer other than Kohls that does allow Apple Pay. You can't honestly tell us that you don't go to any of them, ever.
Macy's, for example, takes Apple Pay (although not with their store card).

Haha Macy's. Nobody shops there.

Oh, fuck you, Target. What an anti-consumer move. You would think they'd jump on this after their hacking scandal. But nope, lesson not learned. I'm now actively avoiding big box stores that don't support Apple Pay, even though their terminals DO support it,  because why the hell should I give them business if they don't give a shit about my convenience? I've been to a shitload of small business that take Apple Pay, so why the hell can't target?
I bet they're waiting to see if they can somehow interject the Target Red Card into ApplePay. I think this was a feature Apple was trailing with some places, yes? People wouldn't be able to save the extra 5% without it and Target really pushes the Red Card (Debit or Credit) so customers would expect to be able to use ApplePay with the Red Card.

That's exactly what I was going to say.  I wouldn't use Apple Pay at Target if it cost me my 5% Target discount.
This has to be the exact reason why they haven't allowed it yet. So this I don't think is exactly Target's fault, but rather Apple's. Once Apple starts allowing store cards into Apple Pay you'll see retails such as Target come onboard in store.

  • Wireless charging and new glass casing will require heat compensation in Apple's 'iPhone X...

Wireless charging is a huge, big, waste of time, IMO.

But I'll trust Tim Cook's judgement in the end.

I mean, how much effort is it to plug my iPhone? 1 second?
What if the iPhone X doesn't have any ports? Why would you need a port if you can wirelessly charge it? I'm tell ya people this is coming soon...as soon as Apple gets wireless charging down, that lighting port will be a thing of the past. You can sync it wirelessly, connect bluetooth devices to it (wirelessly)such as EarPods and now charging wirelessly. No need for a lightning port anymore. I know this will piss people off just like the headphone jack, but people will get over it just like they did with the headphone jack missing.

Of course it'll have a Lightning port. You will still need to charge it via a cable when you're not around a wireless charging transmitter.
That won't stop Apple from removing the lightning port but we shall see.

  • Apple hires former head of Amazon's Fire TV unit to lead Apple TV operations

It still boggles my mind why they don't have an AppleTV that supports 4K! 4K TV's were one of the most popular gifts this past holiday season and yet they have an AppleTV that only supports 1080p. Maybe there's little to no content for 4K yet, but if it doesn't at least support it, I see people turning away from this or buying it only to realize its not 4K and returning it for something else that does.

I would think something like the A10X would support 4K resolutions at 60fps.

This product has the potential to do so much more and yet it just seems to sit there stagnate. This really could be one of the bigger things Apple does if they put some time and effort into it. It shouldn't be a "hobby" anymore for them.

  • 2018 Dodge Durango SRT to feature Apple CarPlay and BeatsAudio sound system

Nice to see Beats making moves outside headphones. Who said buying Beats was a bad deal?

I wonder if they can tackle the home audio market?
FCA has a few vehicles in their lineup using Beats Audio. The Dodge Charger, Fiat 500, Fiat 500 X, Fiat 500L,  and Jeep Renegade all have Beats Premium Audio as an option. The rest either have Alpine Premium Audio, or Harmon Kardon Premium Audio.

The new Jeep Compass may also have Beats Audio has an option...not sure on that yet.

If this Durango SRT will be anything like the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT it will seriously kick some ass. It'll be interesting to see reviews on it once they're available.
