I don't add "in my opinion" to everything I say because everything I say is my opinion.  I'm not wasting keystrokes on clarifying to pedants what they should already be able to discern.

  • Tim Cook made it clear that Apple won't adopt RCS any time soon

I don't understand Google pushing RCS. Only a small percentage of Android users can actually use RCS. We're talking about roughly 500M people here. A rounding error.
500M isn't a rounding error, it's a double digit percentage of all Android devices.

Not sure why he'd boast about having meetings when the clear outcome of any such meeting is that Starlink didn't have anything Apple was interested in.  Just wants to be the news, I guess.
Do you think it's possible there are additional future plays in this game that might involve an Apple/Starlink relationship?

Anything is possible, but I highly doubt it, can’t foresee any likely collaboration, and would be disappointed that Apple would have anything to do with the Musk Marketing Machine.

  • iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island shows Apple out-thinking rivals again

    Honestly,

im pretty blown away by the innovation gone into the dynamic island.

Apple has taken a liability for any smartphone with a front facing camera setup (even more so with Face ID tech) and they’ve turned it into a very desirable asset.

The functionality, the presence, and the animations make it a must have.

All android phone (and even the non-pro iPhones) now seem a bit dated without this feature.

Samsung and others will follow suit soon enough, but it will be a ghetto version, per usual.

When I first heard the words “dynamic island,” I laughed out loud. Literally. Then I saw it demo’d.

    DANG.

    ITS AWESOME.

Whoever came up with that has definitely earned their stripes at Apple.

Amazing. Can’t wait to use it.
Dude, it's a set of animations.  The novelty will last for about 10 minutes.
Dude, you honestly don't get it. Apple could just have easily thrown extra/larger status indictors into the "ears" and called it a day. Instead like a magician they redirected your eyes into seeing what they want you to see instead of what is really there, "the notch".

The end result is ...notch what notch.
Except when one of the animations isn’t triggered. Or when a full screen video is playing.

It’s a cute and clever implementation, but it’s just visual gimmickry, not any increased functionality.

Why?! Her forefathers raped and pillaged countless people all over the world. Did no one take any history lessons? Did Tim Cook not study history??
Do you not realize that virtually everyone has assorted psychopaths, murderers, rapists and criminals somewhere in their past? Only difference is most of us don't know our family histories from 500-1,000 years ago. Are you accountable for something one of your 20 times great grandfathers did?
My wealth and power isn’t directly traceable to one of the most murderous thieving bastards that has ever walked the earth.  Largely because I have almost no wealth and power in comparison to the vast ill gotten gains of the British Royal Family.

Each GPS number will require about 7-8 decimal digits, right? Eg, "123.4567,234.5678,345.6789,456.7890". That's an awful lot of data
You have an odd idea about what "an awful lot of data" is.  You're talking about around 6 bytes for a GPS co-ordinate.
Yes, but 6 bytes provides less resolution, and only provides Lat/Long, whereas I was responding to the poster who wanted a four-number GPS value. If you were responding to his post you would need at least 12 bytes.
Round up to 100 bytes if you want, it's still nowhere near "an awful lot of data".
