I don't add "in my opinion" to everything I say because everything I say is my opinion.  I'm not wasting keystrokes on clarifying to pedants what they should already be able to discern.

Still cannot believe Apple did this. Pretty massive endeavour. And of course not a single positive word uttered by the right to repair hypocrites and trolls. Just more criticism and complaining.
When you understand that the right-to-repair advocates won’t be satisfied with anything less than a complete redesign of the iPhone you know why they are still upset. They literally want snap-apart enclosures with gaskets instead of adhesives, standard Phillips screws, snap-in batteries, third party parts, no special tools required. Go to some of the right-to-repair websites and you’ll see what they want.
What’s so outrageous about standard screws?

Welp, I guess we should start the death spiral clock, eh? Can’t wait to be told this is actually bad news by the usual crowd here, and why can’t Apple pay its retail workers $100K per week. You know, the usual backhanded slap-in-the-face kind of bullshit. /s
It's all great news, but the gross margin was obscene. Why not take the cash used to hire vulture lawyers to lie to employees about unionization, welcome unions, and negotiate some of that pile o' cash in wage and benefit improvements? If Apple can afford sizable wads of stock options for critical personnel in their engineering and design groups, why not a few $K a year for the folks who actually sell the stuff?
Tell me you don’t understand economics without telling me you don’t understand economics.
You can understand economics without subscribing to ruthless profit maximisation.

Right to Repair was always a campaign about how individuals should have the rights, and the facilities, to effect repairs on the devices they have bought, and these kits are versions of what Apple uses in-store. They're just not cost-effective for any given user, skilled or not.

    Read on AppleInsider
Really? And just how many of those types of individuals are there in the world? What? You were expecting your grandson to set up a repair shop in your basement to make a few bucks replacing batteries? As usual the screaming minority demands what the masses don’t want or need.

Oh, I see, the right to repair cadre wants a complete redesign of Apple’s products so that they can use tools from Home Depot to disassemble devices, gaskets instead of adhesives, standard screws and fasteners, snap together plastic housings, etc. Gimme a break.
The masses don’t want to be able to have their devices repaired? What planet are you from?
By themselves, of course. The DIY crowd is its-bitsy teeny-weeny but screams louder than its size.
But that’s not what you’ve quoted says.  You’ve got to get over this misconception that right to repair is about every user being a tinkerer. It isn’t. It’s about every user have access to repair services, and not just Apple Stores.
