  • Sonos ends 'Recycle Mode' for legacy products after consumer backlash

Nice move. I hope they have learned something about PR from this.

Honestly, offering a discount to replace truly obsolete product is kind of a brilliant idea that incentivizes Sonos to keep their product in the field compatible with the latest software while rewarding loyal customers who still love their Sonos gear after many years of use.

It’s too bad the upgrade program was rolled out so awkwardly. They have squandered what could have been a lot of goodwill.

  • Editorial: No WSJ, Apple isn't stuck in China

DED accuses Mickle of being selective and then does it himself...

“The WSJ hired a sportswriter with scant tech industry experience to interpret Apple's global supply chain”

Thankfully, AI has labeled the piece “Editorial”

Step in the right direction so we can interpret  the piece appropriately.

I might argue “Opinion” might be more appropriate, but I’ll take what I can get.

I seriously wish bloggers and mainstream media would tell us facts instead of click bait. “Apple is doomed” is what sells eyeballs. YouTube is just a a bad 90% of the time. “I left Apple for Android” sells. It’s Google so I don’t expect better. But mainstream journalists should report fact. And Apple fact is usually missing.
And when Dilger's editorials point that out many here object to it as fanboyism. It's funny how many AppleInsider members neither own nor use Apple products but are always at the ready to amplify and enhance the negative narrative. Dilger paints positive pictures and explains the misinformation and downright lies about Apple and he's vilified for it, with requests to AI to stop publishing his writings.
let’s be objective. DED’s articles are many things. Positive isn’t one I’d of those. There are an arrogant, sneering tone used to describe all non-Apple or Apple-allied actors in the stories. What I find unfortunate about his style is that the articles seem well researched and comprehensive. He doesn’t need to respond with disses and negativity against the hacks he is railing against. I understand why he’s upset and frustrated that much of the tech press paints Apple the way it does.

I still don’t care for the tone of his writing. I read it because there is insight in it. And I do my best to look past the adolescent barbs he peppers throughout.

  • Adobe Photoshop delivers dark mode, better object selection for 30th anniversary

    Hooray!

welcome improvement to tools I use all the time. Especially the Content Aware Fill. It’s always seemed like such a black box. Granted, I have not downloaded the update yet, so I’m taking at face value the improvement claims.

  • Qualcomm's X60 5G modem could be used in 2021 iPhone models

I’ll happily sit out the 2020 iPhone, I’m totally satisfied with the iPhone 11 Pro for now. Still discovering new camera capabilities several months on.

When this (apparently) mature 5G implementation is ready for iPhone, I’ll be ready to buy in 2021.

Nice when things work out like that.
