  • Foxconn iPhone plant at Zhenghzou reopens with 10% of workforce

Apple doesn’t want to invest a couple hundred billion dollars in building real robots that can assemble iPhones.

so replacing people's jobs with robots is the great solution ?
Apple providing jobs is why you don't want to buy Apple products or invest in aapl ?

Workers travel across the country to work at Foxconn. The wages there are way higher than what they could get at other jobs. Some according to reports earn 10 times their parents incomes.

(I belief in diversifying manufacturing and supply. But too often people's criticism of Apple's China operations is xenophobic racism masquerading as 'concern'. )
I agree we (speaking as an American) sometimes go overboard with our criticism. It also come off a little paternalistic. We just pat them on the head an say “why don’t your young workers do like ours do: open their organic free range haberdasheries operating in restored urban machine shops built in the 1920’s, where, coincidentally, these young worker’s great great grandparents toiled long hours doing repetitive, dangerous work while facing violent crackdowns on their efforts to unionize at the hands of law enforcement with the complicity of our democratic government.”

not that I condone poor working conditions or government crackdowns, but let’s also try to see the decisions chinese workers make without our lenses of privilege we wear around all day.

  • Wacom defends itself against data harvesting accusations

My complaint isn’t so much the collection of the data mentioned above. If it is what they claim, I’d be inclined to allow it. What I really don’t like is that the Wacom software insists on setting itself to auto-launch every time it’s updated and spawns a nag window. Every. Single. Reboot.

Wish they’d spend some time thinking of the user experience.

  • Review: The Wacom One tablet is a decent alternative to more expensive display tablets

Did I miss it or does this article say absolutely nothing at all about the resolution and PPI?
You missed nothing. It’s a breath of fresh air reading a review 100% focused on how a product works rather than focusing on how these specs line up against a higher or lower end version. Resolution & PPI are easy to find, analysis of real world usage is harder to come by.

Nice work, Amber. I appreciate your focus on tools for working creatives. Less specs, more hands-on!

The screen is pretty great, too! Sure it's not the most accurate when it comes to color representation, but for the most part, it gets the job done.

You would think that an artists' tool — you know, those people that works with colours — would be perfect with regards to colour accuracy.

No one offers perfect color accuracy for $400. Full stop.

  • Sonos cutting support for older devices starting in May

    Has anyone read this page?

    https://support.sonos.com/s/article/4786?language=en_US

tgey say something about separating your legacy devices from your supported devices.

Interesting idea. And one that might work nicely for me: my Connect:Amp is used for my outdoor speakers and I almost never join that device with any of my other Sonos devices. Really, it’s just for hot tub & bonfire music. If it can just sit on it’s own legacy area and not join the other speakers, I’m fine with that. As long as it can stream from Apple Music & my Plex library, I’m happy. I only use AirPlay 2 & other fancy features on the indoor speakers.

Anyway, that page had a little good news for my particular usage of legacy Sonos devices.
