Apple Music links shifting away from iTunes domain, further signaling death of app
allmypeople said:On a more productive note from all the bickering... Does anyone have any opinions on using Plex for music streaming? I'm abandoning iTunes. I held on to it for a long time but it's time to move on. I've connected to my buddy's server through my account but haven't purchased a Plex pass. Can it do everything? That's ideally what I want for the family moving forward.
I have an audiophile uncle who who made the switch and has been telling me that it’s great. Once I can figure out how to transfer all my iTunes music (with playlists, metadata, etc) to the Plex server, and have a couple days to spend working through the process, I’m planning the same transition you’re considering.
its worth a try, right?
the real question is this: do I keep an iTunes (Apple Music) library so I have access through Mac apps via built in iTunes functionality? Not sure it’s worth the effort. -
macOS Catalina beta hints Apple is building Catalyst versions of Messages and Shortcuts
Seems this is moving along faster than most of us guessed.
Here is my wishcast: the Photoshop for iPad that Adobe's working on is a Catalyst app, so photoshop for iPad will also be Photoshop for Mac.
Corallary: they already have 80% of desktop Lightroom built into the publicly shipping iPad app, perhaps that will get the same treatment? -

In case you are wondering that is sales so bad that Apple can’t justify the engineering expense to maintain it. Apple needed a machine that would sell multiple thousands per month not a few hundred per month.
By 2010 iMacs were capable enough that many creatives began using them instead.
To stay relevant, a Pro desktop really should be designed to completely destroy the all-in-one designs.
That's my opinion, anyway. -

Where is the Mac for the small business that makes up 98% of the market? The freelancers who need a solid machine that they can upgrade over 7 years. iMac isn’t it.
This is looks like a fantastic machine - but it misses the mark for what the average pro user has been asking for.
