Apple debuts new $5999 Mac Pro with up to 28-core Xeon processors

In case you are wondering that is sales so bad that Apple can’t justify the engineering expense to maintain it. Apple needed a machine that would sell multiple thousands per month not a few hundred per month.
By 2010 iMacs were capable enough that many creatives began using them instead.
To stay relevant, a Pro desktop really should be designed to completely destroy the all-in-one designs.
That's my opinion, anyway. -
The Apple Pro Display XDR brings 6K to the Mac for $4999

Now, my Eizo has a built-in color calibration device set to fine-tune the factory calibration every 80 hours or so, which this doesn't have (unless I've missed something)...but It looks like an amazing tool that I'd love to put on my desk next to a next generation Eizo. -
Review: The ecobee SmartThermostat is the best choice for HomeKit users but needs AirPlay ...
sirozha said:Two additional points.
1. The new remote sensor works with Ecobee 3 and Ecobee 4 thermostats. The old censor is petty finicky IMHO. I often have random disconnects and reconnects of my six remote sensors. The new sensor has a longer range and much longer battery life. Therefore, it’s possible to improve the functionality of the older Ecobee thermostats by simply replacing the old remote sensors with the new ones, which cost significantly less than replacing the thermostats.
I might pickup a couple of the new the new ones for areas where the old sensor falls down on the job. -
Apple's new podcast metadata rules ban episode numbers, threaten removal [u: episode numbe...
Apples rules are common sense to me but this should have been standardized 15 years ago. More evidence Apple doesn't care about Podcasts.
The fact that they are tightening any policy relating to podcasts is evidence the do care now.
Why now is anyone’s guess. Spotify? Changing listener habits? I listen to more podcasts than I used to. Business reasons? Podcasts don’t cost Apple anything (no royalties). -

Does anyone remember the sad state of MP3 file naming back in the pre-iTunes world? They often started with a track number which carried through to the song title field in the player software. It was ugly and an organizational disaster.
Structuring the metadata is smart.
