  • Face ID attention detection security defeated with glasses and tape

Let's be clear that this "hack" still needs the face of the person who is already keyed for the device. This only allows a person who wears glasses to allow someone to use their phone on their face to unlock Face ID without their consent if they happen to be unconscious after making a pair of augmented glasses, assuming that their picking up the iPhone doesn't trigger Face ID and the subsequently disabling of Face ID before they can execute this "hack".
You say that but what if I’m walking down the street and someone lifts my phone from my pocket, then they shout “Hey you!”  When I look round they stick a pair of glasses with tape on my face and unlock my phone, even if I close my eyes in time!

i wasn’t worried about someone unlocking my phone with TouchID while I was asleep, so I’m certainly not going to worry about this.
A scenario that comes to mind is your partner/friend/someone hanging out partying or whoever passed out and this glasses trickery being used to unlock their phone while they're incapacitated.
What is the likelihood of all those factors lining up? I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery than being passed out drunk at a party and someone wanting to get into my iPhone without my knowledge. In my case that doesn't even require the rigamarole of special glasses (even if I wore glasses) because I'm still using an iPhone 7 Plus and my finger would work just fine when I'm passed out.
    any university ever!

  • Samsung's new Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ arrive on Aug. 23

my favourite part about this is the whinging over the 3.5mm jack. samsung made it a point to poke fun at apple, now they are done with the jack. pointless poke i suppose.

and 6.3 and 6.8. if apple did that the tech world would bemoan the lack of size differentiation.  also, the price? will anyone go after them for it?

  • Apple suspends Siri quality control program, will let users opt out in update

I honestly see the dilemma, but how do you test real world conversations, voicing, regional dialects?

I will happily let apple do what they do, I believe they are far and away better at privacy then the other jokers.

  • 2020 iPhone may adopt iPad Pro-style ProMotion displays

pro motion is amazing. one of my students dropped her samsung tablet for the ipad pro and the fluidity was mesmerising. it is like they put silk in the screen it was so smooth. would i want that in my phone? why not? i might not if the phone became $1,300 for the base model. but i doubt that will be happening.

what notch? i have been using mine since december 2018, not noticeable, and i picked up screen real estate by not having the bottom covered up with a big band and touchID.

  • 'SiriOS' predicted for 2020 WWDC - here's what it might be

i like it a lot, it rarely lets me down. i like being able to do the dishes and ask siri to message my wife or change the track. i enjoy being a lazy bast*rd and read on the sofa and have siri read my texts to me.

i know there are limitations, but it can really only get better.
