  • Tim Cook explains why Apple was present at Trump tech summit

And Steve Jobs attended Obamas meeting with all the tech companies. No explanation necessary.
Steve Jobs was a life long Democrat who gladly helped the Obama election campaign. He was also a long time friend of the Clintons. I lost a lot of respect for Tim Cook this week; but probably more now with his deplorable writing skills.
I lost complete respect for any of your comments -- this was not a piece of prose but an answer to a question from an employee. Sounds like it may have have been ask in a live setting where you usually do not have time to write and edit an answer (or have someone edit it for you). I know my first few days of dictating for transcription as a written letter sounded like a moron wrote them -- things got better, but even then I could always back up what I had dictated and not have to leave that way. Not so in a large meeting atmosphere.

    I care. Together with Tim.
So then you don't do online banking?
So then you don't do online shopping?
So then you don't read articles on the internet?

All those websites collect your data. Just because Tim Cook says he stands for privacy does not mean you are in some protected bubble.

Frankly, Apple not collecting data is pathetic and archaic. Like a person who refuses to use a computer or go on the internet because of risks.
Read articles on the internet - how are you reading this article, smoke signals...? Online banking can be very secure as can online shopping. The user takes the responsibility to use secure methods for this and if your bank or a site some how uses your data then thats between you and them. This has nothing to do with Google (although I don't trust them at all. Apple building and replacing Google Search just does not make sense (cents?). I should have ask this first: When you say use the data can you clarify "Cook refuses to use the data from hundreds of millions of Apple users?". Apple does use user data but they do it in a way that keeps it anonymous (e.g., using cellular signals for location if GPS not available).

  • Apple issues iOS 10.2 beta 5 to public & developers

Must be nearing ready for the public release!
my thoughts exactly - I was just about to install 4 when I read this. Saved me so time and trouble. Course could have been a show-stopper that they found that needed addressing but I rather doubt that as there was no "Danger Will Robinson" please install this NOW. ;-)

  • Apple Music marketing exec Bozoma Saint John talks diversity in new interview

Good! Bring it on, Apple - we need more people like her and Tim!
from the article:"The message echoes an Apple initiative to celebrate diversity among its employees by creating an all-inclusive workplace. According to a recent EEO-1 filing, the company has a long way to go for its upper echelons reach an equilibrium between white males and underrepresented minorities —at least by government measures —but progress is being made." If race doesn't matter then why do we (the govt.) track it so much? Why do we need to have more women and minorities in the upper echelons? I think it serves everyone better if they hire/promote the best, talented, & stop reverse discrimination. Plenty of folx have not gotten the wonderful education, health care, etc... that others have. I find that those that can look past ethnicity, orientation, etc, work hard and share their talents with others are most often rewarded for the hard work - you have the right to compete and have equality but as far as I know there isn't any promise of being 'fair'. Those that believe in the fantasy of fairness just don't get it - there is always gonna be a bias. "If its not one thing its another." - Rosannaroseannadanna
