  • Questionable rumor claims Apple will ditch Lightning for USB-C on OLED 'iPhone 8'

I say they change it, but not the phone end.
That makes even less sense. USB-A charging is ubiquitous. There is ZERO incentive for Apple to change USB-A to USB-C on the iPhone until USB-C starts to take over USB-A in the real world.

The Mac is a completely different story, that shouldn't even require explanation.
What do you mean it doesn't make sense? The other end of the iPhone cable is the old USB that is not even supported on the new MacBooks. It's cleaning the Apple ecosystem of the old USB connection.
Not to mention that one could probably argue that there are enough USB A to Lightning cables on the planet already to fulfill the need until the last USB A port is banished. And they are readily available at the corner drug store. So if Apple switched to USB C on the computer/charger end of the cable, then if anyone still needed a USB A version they likely either already have several of those cables in a drawer someplace or can very easily obtain one for only a few bucks.
I am glad you mentioned that there are probably already enough of the USB A connector cables for, well... forever.

I myself kind of like the SCSI connector. Talk about a solid cable, never had one of them fray away on me -- you couldn't insert it the wrong way, and the nubus design was so elegant: can you imagine being able to hook up a printer and a scanner to your iPhone/iPad as well as a couple HDs and maybe even a slide scanner. All of it hooked together in one neat chain... with a terminator at the end of course ¡

Could this finally mean the nails to the coffin are ready to be nailed in?

They still have to decide which nails are the best, then tool up to copy them cheaply, once they get them working well (not exploding when you drive them in) then they will be 'ready to be nailed in'. Beware though as a previous attempt at making threaded fasteners (to could screw everyone) had serious problems as they regularly heated up and literally exploded. /s

  • Facebook looks to build friend lists with 'Discover People' feature on Apple's iPhone & iP...

Sounds to me like FaceBook is running a little scared. They need to chill a bit. I have never been a fan personally but at times I have needed to use it for support, etc... The damn thing has no beginning or end -- it reminds me of MS Word with their pawn shop UI (everything in the front window). It is not apparent how to navigate, go to other peoples sites, escape etc... I understand from others that the privacy options are good but do they have to take up an entire page & you definitely have to be a lawyer or have a degree in philosophy to understand the impact of some of these settings. The whole thing feels like a junk yard and talk about the SPAM bomb hitting.

  • Apple Watch sales set new 'record' during holidays, but no numbers revealed

...the company is still refusing to break out specific figures.

So !? Hardly anyone gives the details of the number of units for desktop, laptop, tablets, phones... yet Apple does. But when they feel like they should play it close to the vest they are hiding something. The freaking analysts are gonna make up some number and plug it in to the crap reports they generate that causes the stock to see/saw up/down. Of course they always attribute it to some well placed source.
