Five years of Apple Silicon: How Apple continues to revolutionize chips
nubus said:"Did the change make increase the marketshare for the Mac? All the "it is fast" and "it uses less energy" are nice but did it really change anything?"Yes it did! Biggly! They now can design their products from the ground up with all the hardware in house (pretty much), being managed by them. Total system integration (HW & SW), hence why Apple products tend to "just work" outta the box. All the other PC manufacturers are now following suit to some degree. After the modem tech purchase, all Apple needs to purchase now is a SSD and memory chip manufacturing business, to have all their PC components in place IMO. -
Leaker wars escalate, Jon Prosser shows alleged iOS 19 redesign
I think they are going to be circles, like the watch and headset. That shape makes the most sense if they are wanting to integrate all the device UI elements. This squircle shape is weak-sauce. It's like a bad design compromise for both shapes. Who cares if the Android OS UI has been using that shape for years now. Both companies have copied from each other now at this point. -

iPhone 16 has a new Camera Control button -- Here's everything it can do
slow n easy said:It would only be a gimmick for people who don't use the camera app very often. For people who do use the camera app often, it's amazing. It is way faster and simpler to just press a button to access the camera. If this is a gimmick, then I guess that MagSafe is also a gimmick. I wouldn't want to be without MagSafe, and I wouldn't want to be without instant camera access either.
Agreed. Incremental updates are how things progress. HW features and getting them working flawlessly takes time.
