Let the internet privacy wars begin! lol

  • Intel under pressure to explore strategic options amid chip industry challenges

Too little too late. Now companies outside of Apple are seeing the benefit of designing AND optimizing their own hw with their sw. For too long it has been just a CPU speed race (and still is to a degree), but those days are passing I think. A long term market win for their average product consumer/user.

  • Early 2021 Apple Silicon iMac said to have 'A14T' processor

I wonder what the upgrade cycle will be for Macs with Apple processors, and how those processors will compare to mobile processors. If a Mac uses an A14 variant and then an iPhone/iPad is upgraded to an A15, will the Macs then be slower than iPhones and some Mac users feel the need to upgrade every year to have the fastest available? What Mac user is going to feel good about their Mac being slower than the next iPhone that comes out?

Or will the Mac variants of the processors be faster enough that an iPhone/iPad using next generation will still be slower?

They will still be faster probably because of the fans inside the Macs can keep them cooler than fan-less hardware. I would suspect.

I can’t dispute these claims.  I’m no expert in cpu manufacturing.  But have to wonder...  there has to be a limit, a wall that must be reached at some point with current chip fabrication\materials. Every year we keep hearing that in just a years time the new cpu is XX percentage better than the one before it. The other thing is the phones are so good right now,  does it really matter in real life daily use?

Well if grfx HW manufacturers would stop increasing the pixel density of monitors, tv's, cameras etc, we wouldn't need to increase the cpu speeds in order to crunch all those pixels/data being made by them and grafx apps. lol. That's probably an oversimplification of it all however...

  • Apple unveils plans to ditch Intel chips in Macs for 'Apple Silicon'

Anybody else notice the macOS version number?  11, and not 10.16.  Seems apropos.
