  • Apple shifts iOS 14 development strategy to cut buggy releases

It seems Apple should just step back and take a little more time to release new OS versions. The 18-24 month or so cycle wasn't that bad in the early aughts. That way it is rock solid (more-or-less) once the new version is released.

  • A4 to A5: How Apple outflanked its fragmented competition in silicon

It's interesting to see how Jobs basically poo-pooed smaller form tablets, then after his passing Apple realized there was a market for them etc, and releases the mini. They have positioned their hardware into a three tier product line, just like in the late 90's (good/better/best). Makes perfect sense.

  • How Jony Ive's design passion made Apple what it is today

Glad to see he'll still be working with Apple with his new company. I imagine all the designers under his leadership at Apple have all gleaned some knowlege from him to help with future products. Good for him!

  • Review: 2019 15-inch eight-core MacBook Pro - Refinement before redesign

Every time I look at the pricing I have to remind myself that I'm going to keep that laptop as my primary computer for 5-8 years. Only then does the pricing make sense.

Same goes for all of my Apple equipment. Most of my gear is at the 5 year mark now and I recently ditched a 10-year old MBP and another 9-year old MBP just after Mojave came out.
    Exactly.

Regarding what @Eric_WVGG said, I happen to own both Pixelmator and Affinity Designer, and those apps are OK for entry-level design work, but so inferior overall that I have rarely used them. Adobe's software is awesome. XD lags behind Sketch mostly because of the current ecosystem of plugins, but I believe it will soon be more than a match. Photoshop and InDesign are way ahead of everyone else in their respective areas. There is not any similar software on earth I would even consider to replace those, even if it was free.
I have to disagree with you a tad there in regards to Affinity. Granted they are a new company and don't have 20+ yrs of development behind them, but they are far more robust than entry level. Over time they will be really close, or on par with Adobe's apps I suspect. The amount legacy code in Adobe's ecosystem (from what I understand, as I am not a developer) makes for a clunky experience at times. But to each their own in the end. I for one have enjoyed what Affinity has been doing so far. I look forward to see what they develop next.
