  • Apple to compensate 'Shot on iPhone Challenge' winners for use of photos

Apple caused a bit of a stir in the artistic community this week...”

“Artistic community”. That’s right, the average iPhone user wasn’t whining about this, professional photographers were. But this contest shouldn’t be for/about them. Also this isn’t the first time Apple has run a shot on iPhone campaign. Why all the complaining about not being paid this time?
I agree! Plus whiners have the tendency to multiply faster than regular folks. ;)
It does not matter if professional or not - the work used commercially should be paid regardless if this was done by a kid, amateur or professional. Nothing is for free... onless author donates product it.

  • How to make new T2-secured Macs boot from external drives

And in next update Apple will disable external boot again. So make sure to follow this routine after every system security patch and update. Apple really knows how to secure your data for your (in)convenience and force you to use iCloud while you prefer other cloud solutions and prefer not store any information on external sources managed by someone else. Well I don ot always have internet to be honest, but local system backup as TimeMachine always. So what is Apple point on this approach?

  • Why Apple is now focusing on users, not units in Fiscal 2019

The numbers are not global, but only US based. The dominant mobile device manufactirer globally is Samsung. Apple comes second. Please do not sell this data as general trend. On some markets like in Europe Apple has really marginal presence. It is not about hating, trolling or else so svae yourself those derogatory slogans. This is aboutr marketshare facts: Samsung 28% Apple 26%

  • How to upgrade the RAM on the new 2018 Mac mini

    rob53 said:
Just checked MacSales/OWC and their RAM for this model costs $169.99 vs the $200 upgrade price Apple charges ($188 if you qualify for their EPP and (possibly) educational discounts). I use MacSales all the time but regardless of the warranty, the price difference doesn't make sense to me considering the lack of ease in replacing it. Using cheaper RAM is not something I do or recommend so for those who just have to be able to change or upgrade RAM, good luck.

disclaimer: OWC charges $1079.99 for a full 64GB of RAM vs Apple's $1316 (EPP price) so it might be worth it if you really want to spend that much money on a Mac mini.

from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205041 Couldn't quickly find actual warranty but when Apple says something like this, it sounds to me like they aren't allowing it.

    Applicable models

    • Mac mini (2018)

To upgrade the memory in your Mac mini (2018), go to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Because you are looking in expensive place. Go to Crucial or Kingston website and not to OWC and buy from them. Your cost estimation is like comparing one expensive place to another. Both places (Appl and OWC) have them, from manufacturers like Samsung, Crucial or others.
