  • New MacBook Air coming by end of quarter, research firm claims

Just bring back that 11-12 inch MacBook Air back. I need to refresh old hardware and I am not squeezing bigger portable computer into spoecialized clunky messenger bag. iPad will not do either. There are apps that need more screens and more complex navigations and tasks on apps than mobile can offer. Example? Modelling solution (no modelling is not diagramming - it has strict rules) so far no apps like UML, BPM on mobile that would really cut for this task while travelling or at home with large hid-def screen.

  • Group FaceTime won't be available for initial iOS 12 or macOS Mojave release

Why does the Mac alway suck the hind tit with features to iOS?!  Mac was the FIRST platform, and should be leading or at least on feature-parity w/iOS devices.  You know, Apple should really accelerate the iOS apps on macOS execution, that is what should really ship this fall w/Mojave!  Doing so would give Mac a much-needed infusion of fresh apps!

Also tired of Apple carrot & stick w/promised features they delay endlessly.  Promise only what you can realistically deliver on time and the ones you can't state they will be in a .5 release version or somethings at WWDC...
You have a solution to your trauma. You have a checkbook. Use it to switch platforms.
That is your suggested solution and that is not solution really. The orignal writer simply expressed concern and you are recommending some vicious non-solution. I suggest stop applying that technique. It is as arrogant as Microsoft crowd years ago I remember. Start giving sensible advice. Frustration is not the only reason to leave platform. Actually it should push innovators to get focused and deliver.

  • Remote Mac hack relies on MDM bug Apple patched in latest macOS update

Listen up all you users who refuse to update for various, usually irrational, reasons. Keep your damn systems up to date. The Apple discussion forums are full of posts from users wanting to roll back updates because something happened and they don’t want to troubleshoot the issue. “I just updated to macOS 10.13.6 and my printer stopped working. How do I go back to 10.13.4?” Or, “I updated to 10.13.6 and this third party game I downloaded six years ago doesn’t work anymore. How do I go back to plain old Sierra?”

    Well, you get the drift.
Yes. Spend your money on new hardware and replace something that has been working for long time. Do you actually work in Apple marketting department? You sound like you do.
Apple has bad approach and low quality testing and coding these days and that is fact I found out from buddy who just left their development team in Mac in Cupertino. We are from the same region in finance (NYC). You cannot afford to be that arrogant to business users in our area. That is why Apple is niche in it. You do test and support working sytuff or you are gone in no time.Updates and upgrades are rolled out in proper waves and timing - vendor can do this at any time but when something brakes they are "Johnny-on-thespot" and fix overnight or else. I know what was doen in Goldman Saxchs at the time an trust me even Microsoft had to bend and listen.

  • Samsung Galaxy Home will fight smart speakers from Apple, Amazon & Google

Samsung says it can detect a listener's location and direct audio to that spot by speaking "Hi Bixby, Steer Sound". Like other recent higher end smart speakers it can also adapt sound to the shape of the room. But the design! Ugh!

  • Qualcomm demands Intel share documents for iPhone and iPad modems

Qualcomm is going to get Appled if they keep this up.

If you go up against the king, you best not miss.

"The king"? Well business is business and judges rule what all business MUST do - no discussion. Business does not overrule legislation and execution. They can only negotiate. I would say Qualcomm seems to be asking for trouble by doing this, but Apple is nothing such as "king". It is just a successful business that can be squashed if it does not follow laws and regulations.
