  • Editorial: Apple has a huge opportunity with its rumored Bluetooth trackers

I was just telling someone this week that I wish Apple would make some products like these.  It's super useful functionality but with a company that respects privacy.  I'd also like them to do one of those auto diagnostics/GPS trackers you plug into the OBDII port on a car.  Great for new drivers but also for staying on top of engine codes and such when they pop up.
The Harman Spark does exactly what you are talking about. The Spark is available from AT&T. It also allows you to add Wi-Fi to the vehicle. Apple should buy the Harman Spark and add their "special sauce" that they use on so many different things that makes things magical.
We've got a device like this already and I think the company's privacy policy is decent.  But I'd feel better with Apple plus it could tie into Find My... better.

Looks pretty good and I like all the actors involved.

  • Parallels Desktop 15 for macOS Catalina makes the move to Metal

Coincidentally, I was just thinking about possibly getting a hold of a virtualization app.  I seem to recall VMWare Fusion being more highly rated a little while ago, is that still the case?
Not in my experience.  I used Fusion for several years before jumping over the Parallels with version 14.  I think Parallels runs far smoother.

  • BMW says annual $80 CarPlay fee needed for ongoing testing & development

Horseshit.  BMW is one of the most profitable automakers in the world.  For what customers pay for any BMW compared to vehicles in each respective category, they should not be adding on extra fees like this.  It's gauche and tacky.  It's like what some low-range hotel does where you don't get free breakfast, Wifi is $9.99 per day, and they're stingy with extra toiletries.

They don't really need this fee, but if you're going to do it, just bake in an extra $300 to the price of the car.  No one cares about $300 when you're spending $50k on a luxury performance car.  At least then you don't look chintzy.
