  • New Billboard cover features photo shot with Apple's iPhone 7 Plus

I think "preview" should be "portrait"? "iOS additionally asks that shooters be within 8 feet of a subject for previews"

Wireless charging is a huge, big, waste of time, IMO.

But I'll trust Tim Cook's judgement in the end.

I mean, how much effort is it to plug my iPhone? 1 second?
What if the iPhone X doesn't have any ports? Why would you need a port if you can wirelessly charge it? I'm tell ya people this is coming soon...as soon as Apple gets wireless charging down, that lighting port will be a thing of the past. You can sync it wirelessly, connect bluetooth devices to it (wirelessly)such as EarPods and now charging wirelessly. No need for a lightning port anymore. I know this will piss people off just like the headphone jack, but people will get over it just like they did with the headphone jack missing.

Of course it'll have a Lightning port. You will still need to charge it via a cable when you're not around a wireless charging transmitter.
port could be limited to service (non-consumer facing) as with apple watch.

  • Apple boosts tvOS app size limit to 4GB

Should've gotten myself a 64GB AppleTV instead of 32GB. Oh well.
In all seriousness, do you really use the app component of AppleTV?  We were so excited when it came out - bought controllers, 64GB version, etc.  But the games were few (and those few were weak).  And the non-game apps were even less useful.  So our ATV just does no more than our old 3rd generation ATVs do - stream netflix, show movies, and display the occasional slide show.  I got a little hopeful when they pulled the restriction on making all games remote compatible (instead of being limited to standalone remotes) but nothing seems to have happened.

  • Rumored 10.5-inch iPad may align with dimensions of iPad mini, resolution of iPad Pro

This is hard to understand.  Why would a new size be scaled to be twice the size of the mini if the mini is to be jettisoned?

And a 10.5" iPad would now be subject to the Office licensing standards (where Office must be paid for screen sizes greater than 10.1").

And, would Apple really make a family as densely packed as 9.7", 10.5", and 12.9"?

This all seems a bit hard to believe.

  • Ford, Toyota herald new members on board with Apple CarPlay-opposing industry group

Here's a car connectivity question.  Why hasn't any manufacturer started including a real mounting dock (no wires, a sturdy mount, the correct orientation, etc.)?  For iOS it's easy (one connector, only a few form factors, etc.).  Even for Android, it shouldn't be too hard to cover most of the dominant devices.  The space taken up by a CD loading slot should be about right to have a pop-out platform that includes a sturdy port (that can swap between lightning and micro-USB).  This would reduce clutter and wires snaking around the cockpit area (usually from a center console to the dash).
