  • Dynamic Island expected to replace notch on all iPhone 15 models

    sbdude said:
Unless all iPhone 15 models are OLED (or mini-LED, for that matter) I don’t see this as well-executed on the “lesser” iPhones. Without the absolute black you get with an OLED panel, the dynamic island will look funky on an LCD.
All iPhone 12, 13 and 14 models are OLED. Why do you think they'd walk the iPhone 15 backwards at all, let alone all the way to iPhone 11?

  • Apple VP of industrial design details MacBook Air overhaul

I highly disagree with adding an SD card when they could have added an extra USB port. Why please 2% of your users when you can have pleased 98%? This is Apple
    going backwards post-Jony.

You can always find a USB-C to SD adapter but try to find an SD Card to USB-C Cable.
After years of lugging around a USB SD adapter, I can finally leave it home. I am routinely in the field with my MacBook Pro, a drone, and my camera. I can now move cards between them without hassle. Back at my desk, I need only one USB/Thunderbolt port for my dock.

I might be in the 2%, but so are 100% of my colleagues.

It’s about 3 steps back. I could get really technical but it’s THICKER with less features. Fu**ing ridiculous.
The increased thickness IS a feature.

  • New York Apple retail union organizers are asking for $30 an hour

"For pay, we seek a minimum $30 for all workers, built up on a matrix based on role, tenure, and performance," the organizers wrote.
Nowhere in that statement does it say that everyone would make $30, regardless of performance. Quite to the contrary, it states that wages would start at $30 and build from there, based on role, tenure, and performance.

$30/hr would certainly be too much to pay for the kind of critique being leveled here so far.

  • Police officer celebrates 'cool' Apple Watch fall detection

Why are police being dispatched for someone falling down? That's like grabbing a hammer to fix a broken light bulb. EMS should have made that call.
New York City has more than 36,000 police officers operating out on the streets, with 9600 vehicles. The New York Fire Department employs 4,400 EMC staff, stationed in 218 Firehouses holding 450 ambulances.

All police officers have some level of EMS training. When seconds count, how long do you want to wait for EMS? A well run government would send the closest available resource to help. That is almost always the police.
