  • Apple's 'drumroll begins' for 5G iPhone 12 super-cycle, says analyst

Year after year analysts predict the next "supercycle".
It's time to just accept that the "supercycle" is a myth.
Hahaha.....I think most business would prefer to work towards longevity and cycles within a controlled/acceptable range, than to have 'supercycles'.
Well, if there is no bust-word to catch attention, these analysts/journalists may not have a rice-bowl, hence the incentives to use all kinds of sensational journalism. Hahaha...

  • Apple, Google in a 'standoff' with Germany and France over contact tracing privacy

Singapore has actually developed the app TraceTogether and released for weeks to its nation, open sourced it as BlueTrace protocol (https://bluetrace.io/) and released to the world to use. It has the same fundamental privacy as Apple and Google API where the data stays encrypted and stored on the device until a 2FA code issued by the Govt/Ministry of Health for user to enter which only then sends the data to the Govt. Australia has signaled their interest to use the BlueTrace protocol.

Weird that on one hand EU has always pushed for stringent PDPA laws to protect privacy yet now contradict themselves to allow centralised storage of data without users’ permission.

Honestly, I would prefer the BlueTrace and Apple+Google approach where until I give explicit permission to send the data on my device only when I become an infected person. If the app is going to become a massive public surveillance, people may just choose not to install. I know I won’t bother to install.

  • Security experts have concerns about Apple and Google contact tracing

Singapore's TraceTogether app which is developed by Government Technology Agency (GovTech) and based on BlueTrace protocol, now open-sourced and available on tech.gov.sg. It will be great if Apple is able to reach out to GovTech and explore how the now open-sourced BlueTrace can be better optimised or merge into Apple-Google's API so that it is a win-win for all 3 parties, and perhaps the first real-world implementation in a nation ready to benefit from the 'run in background' mode. Now is a good time to do so as Singapore is experiencing an increase in cases which are difficult to trace.

While Apple-Google API is facing challenges in several nations, Singapore is a ready-to-tap nation and right time. @Apple, please kindly see how you can help. ;)

  • Brazilian courts take Apple's side in iPhone slowdown lawsuits, buck international consens...

Looks to me all these various nations' Govt agency want is after a piece of the 'big huge cake' (Apple's cash pile). What does the consumers really get out of those 'Fines' ruled by the court?

  • Developer Blix claims new evidence of App Store 'monopoly' in court filing

Hmmm... Apple is definitely not the first to use the technique of “using manageable public interaction addresses, without revealing their private interaction addresses.” as the mechanism of protection. Namecheap’s WhoisGuard service (used to be paid service on annual fee) uses the same to protect domain owners from having their private email address being exposed in Whois Lookups. So, in this case, Namecheap has infringe Blix’s patent?
