  • New 'Service' battery message in iOS pushes consumers toward official replacement

FU, Apple. This is the stuff that is going to drive me back to PC's after a 12-year run and tens of thousands of dollars donated to your organization.
Oh...Till date, even PC makers are doing similarly. If you don't use their batteries, warranty is void and functions like battery health related don't always work correctly.
Oh...Maybe ought to F those EU auto-makers as well.

The company is also aggressively expanding its massive global lead in supporting Siri across the most languages. iOS 13 brings new language support to India, where Apple reported new growth in the quarter. There's still a lot of work to be done to expand free Services including News, Maps, and Siri to other countries and languages, but Apple now operates a series of R&D centers across the world to work on these language localizations and regional customizations..
How about just getting Siri to do the most basic of things within the languages currently available. With so much criticism regarding Siri's current performance, maybe focusing on the basics should be the focus...

We can talk about Music later  :*

I'm guessing you gave up on both after a few tries?

I use Siri everyday and it works great - rarely does it not understand what I've said.

And I listen to Apple Music everyday as well, and take part in letting it know what I like and don't like.

If you don't use the systems and guide them, they're never going to learn and work for you.
Just to add on since I am not native English speaking. Prior to iOS 12, using Siri was not quite as smooth sailing as I have expected, esp. I use Siri a lot while driving (e.g. send text, get me directions, find nearest petrol station for specific brand, etc). With iOS 12, there is a sudden leap forward, esp. in understanding the variant of English I speak and not-exactly-English road names, etc. It became really usable on regular basis and most of the frustration is more or less gone.

I am not sure if ML is included in the OS for HomePod. Where I am, HomePod has yet to launch (for unknown reason cause we are usually in the Tier 1 launch countries for almost every Apple product, launch together with US or else the next wave if launch was only US alone). Just managed to get one from overseas and I believe the noticeable improvements will come in the next OS (expected to release together with iOS 13). I suspect that's where ML may be included, otherwise, I wonder how the HomePod is going to be able to process different voices locally since it's going to support multi-user.

This is good.  $4.3 Billion is a lot of money.
But, Huawei spends 4-5 times that on R&D each year ($15-$20B annually).
Meanwhile Apple spends around 20 times that buying back its own stock rather than investing in the company ($75-$100B annually).

Yeh, they're doing good.  But they could do a LOT better!

American companies didn't become powerhouses by making stockholders rich but by investing and growing themselves.  Yes, Apple is doing a good job growing themselves.  But they could be doing much, much better if their resources were utilized to grow and future-proof their company.
Pardon my limited knowledge on stock and how it should be managed. What I think is buying back own stock is also important. Look at Daimler (parent company of Mercedes Benz) which is now having a largest shareholder from China. I think swedish car maker Volvo is another example. In short, managing those stock in the open market is also important, otherwise one day Apple may no longer be an 'American' firm overnight.

  • Trump expects Apple to build manufacturing plant in Texas

Trump buys Chinese Steel for construction
Surely he can understand why most companies manufacture in China.

If Trump was smart, he would figure out a way to win manufacturing back to the US not force them back with a trade war.
I predict that Tesla will move its US manufacturing to China.

They have to if they wants to sell in greater numbers than they currently is able to.

Just look at those top 5 global sales auto makers. Name one that doesn’t manufacture in China or other lower-cost locations than America?

  • US Attorney General Barr doubles down on encryption backdoors call

What if those OS created by US tech firms start having backdoors and then the world shifts to another OS created by non-US?

the previous era of mobile OS wasn’t from US. What happens if the next big thing isn’t from US? How about a new era where mobile devices are dominated by Chinese, including the OS? How about Israel (where most hacking/cracking tools are coming out from) one day dominates ability to break any encryption?
